I am a Speech-Language Pathologist located in North Carolina. I have a bachelor's degree in Speech-Language Pathology and a master's degree in Communication Science Disorders. I am a licensed medical speech-pathologist in a skilled nursing facility with my CCCs! I specialize in tutoring for language, study skills, organization skills, courses for undergraduate and graduate students for speech therapy students, the Praxis 5331 for speech pathology graduate students.

I am a Math and English tutor. Why English? I love to read and am a stickler for grammar. I have a vast vocabulary because of my love for reading and can always think of different ways to say the same thing in essays, papers, etc. Why Math? I like it, I'm good at it and I've noticed that a lot of kids hate it because they aren't good at it or the opposite-they aren't good at it because they hate it. I am here to try to bridge the disconnect between students and their Math skill set and get them to see that they can overcome that obstacle. I love learning from the students I tutor. I love seeing them grow and outgrow me.

After graduating from Montana State University and moving into my professional career I found that I still have a passion for helping others and discussing history. Combining those two passions has led me to become a history tutor. My teaching philosophy is that the student's goals and interests can and should help shape the ways in which they are taught a subject. Tutoring should be individually catered to the student, adaptable, and most importantly - fun!

I have been teaching military Chinese for years. I know very well of OPI and DLPT test format. Also, I am teaching college students Chinese as well. I love teaching and want to promote Chinese culture and history. I am a very outgoing, most time student and I will study in a really relaxed and fun environment.

I am an educator with a heart for service. My background includes 8 years of Special Education experience, and 15 years of mental health experience. In the classroom and in my community I serve the overlooked, underserviced and emotionally/behaviorally challenged youth and young adults whose inabilities are likely to affect their academics in a negative way. I take pride in building lifelong relationships through compassionate engagement, exhibiting fairness, firmness and consistency while implementing my holistic approaches. I am skilled in modifying instruction, relating lessons to real world experiences and strategically challenging individuals to make connections in their learning. As a child, one of my favorite games was to pretend to be a teacher. I never thought that what started as a game was going to become my current profession. I was born in Peru and I lived there until I graduated from college. I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. After graduation, I moved to United States and started working as a teacher assistant in a middle school. After one semester working, I was offered a position to teach Spanish. Even thought I was hesitant about accepting the position, I knew that the opportunity was offered to me for a reason; therefore, I decided to take the position. Seven years later, I am still teaching and learning from this beautiful profession. During my seven years of experience, I attended Fayetteville State University where I obtained my Spanish teaching license. I have taught Spanish in middle school and early college. During this time, I also had the opportunity to tutor English as a second language (ESL) and Biology. I am currently working on one of the best early colleges in North Carolina, we were honored to receive a blue ribbon award last year. I am also pursuing a second Bachelor's degree focused in Biology. I feel that the double role I have as a teacher and student, allows me to stay grounded and remember what is it like to be a student. My teaching style adapts to my student's goals, and their previous knowledge. I like to implement teaching activities where students can put in practice what they have learned, therefore, a holistic and scenario-based approach is where I notice more growth when learning a language. During my spare time, I like to dance, watch movies, cook, find new things to learn, and spend time with friends and family. Thank you for taking the time to get to know me better.

I began tutoring through a volunteer music lessons program in college, and have since instructed students in a variety of subjects, including writing and psychology. I love to help students improve academically through a cooperative teaching style. My favorite memories of tutoring include learning that one of my students received her first ever "A" on a paper that I helped her write, and when a junior high clarinet student earned first chair after a playing test. With every student, I aim to discover and use how he or she learns best in order to teach most effectively. By presenting information in a way that is simple and relatable, I hope to help students not just memorize, but really understand the subject. Additionally, I try to teach students the skills that they need to solve problems independently. I am passionate about helping students to improve in all academic areas.

I am a graduate of the College of Arts at Southeastern. I received my Bachelor of Arts in English. Before I began college, I tutored immigrant children from China. After I finished college, I proofread & edited two books, one of which was a PhD dissertation and I regularly edited articles that were published in a local newspaper. I am a firm proponent of education, especially English, because I believe that literature is what connects us to history & other cultures.
