I am currently a fourth year medical student at the University of IL College of Medicine (graduating in May 2021), and I previously received my Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences with a concentration in Genetics and Genomics from Northwestern University. Two things I am passionate about are helping others and mentoring/teaching -- tutoring allows me to do both of these simultaneously! I have previously tutored students ages 5 to >22 in a variety of subjects ranging from different math and science classes, test prep (ACT, SAT, MCAT, USMLE Step 1 and 2), and college/grad school application preparation.

I am a senior at Brandeis University. I am on the pre-health track majoring in Health: Science, Society, and Policy and Biology and minoring in Hispanic Studies. I am also President of a Brandeis Volunteers Around the World, which aims to bring volunteering opportunities to students at Brandeis, as well as providing services to underserved countries internationally. In addition, I am also a part of General Tutoring in which I voluntarily tutor a high school sophomore every week in mathematics. Although I am comfortable in tutoring a variety of subjects, I am most interested in Mathematics and Science. From my experience in teaching, I have found that the most successful method for a student's success is additional practice. I believe that every student has the opportunity for success given the appropriate resources. My future plans include attending medical school and my hobbies include biking and reading.
I am a rising senior at the University of Michigan studying Economics and Business. Along with my passion for learning, I enjoy teaching mathematics and English to elementary, middle, and high school students. I understand how much patience is needed when it comes to solving trigonometry problems, algebra equations, or geometry proofs. I am passionate about teaching students and providing meaningful, consistent connections with my students. With my experiences in tutoring, I have gained great confidence in my teaching style and how I approach students with various backgrounds differently. I believe that education is a ticket to social and economic equality; at Varsity Tutors, it will be my duty to understand how to make a difference in the education field. In my free time, I enjoy spending lots of time with my family and watching shows/movies with them.
I'm a recent college student who graduated with a Bachelors in Biological Sciences from the University of Illinois in Chicago. Since graduating, I have been interested in tutoring students in subjects I feel confident in.
I'm Kshitij and I study at the University of Michigan's Ross School of Business. The best feeling in the world to me is helping other people reach their dreams by conquering barriers like testing that stand in their way. I believe that the process of learning precedes the end goals-- that means that I focus on teaching students how to learn and to autonomize problem solving skills and processes they can apply to all problems rather than just helping them get the answer they need on a specific problem. This is the approach that my teachers used with me, and I've found it to be successful in teaching others as well. In fact, a student I tutored is now a tutor herself at Varsity Tutors! I'm well versed in tutoring for standardized tests like the SAT/PSAT/ACT/AP, as well as things like essay writing and public speaking. If you have any questions about me or my background, feel free to ask!
I am a student at the University of Illinois at Chicago. I am a biology student, but I love to learn and grow within all the different fields of study. I am most experienced in tutoring mathematics.
I'm not tutoring or buried in my textbooks, you will either find me rock climbing at the Triangle Rock Club, playing Ultimate Frisbee, working on my car, or enjoying the great outdoors (beaches, mountains, forests--you name it, I love it). On rainy weekends I enjoy tinkering with computers and old electronics, playing Pokemon, or picking at my guitar.
I am an interdisciplinary educator with an Ed.M. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a B.A. from Dartmouth College. My background is primarily in integrated arts learning and museum education and I specialize in visual arts, history and art history, and object-based learning. In all subjects, I take a creative, inquiry-based and learner-centered approach, designing opportunities for each unique individual to meet their learning goals.
I am a recent graduate from a masters program in biostatistics at Columbia University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in biological sciences, with a focus in neurobiology at Northwestern University. In August, I will be starting a doctoral program in biostatistics at NYU. I was a teaching assistant at Columbia University in my department and also have tutored graduate students and undergraduates privately as well. My primary areas of tutoring are math and statistics coursework in addition to math sections on standardized tests such as the GRE and GMAT. I am very passionate about helping students feel more confident and excited about math. In my spare time, I enjoy running, playing piano, and spending time with friends and family.
I am a graduate of Wesleyan University, where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with High Honors. With eight years of experience working in education, I've tutored students in math, science, history, and English, as well as helped students prepare for standardized tests. I've guided adults towards passing the US Citizenship Exam and taught English in India, where I lived for six months. Whenever I work with a student I personalize the lessons to fit their particular learning style, since I know every student is unique and having the right fit can make all the difference in making learning fun and effective. My strengths are tutoring the social sciences and humanities, as well as making math and standardized tests approachable to students that normally don't like those subjects. In my spare time I like traveling, spending time in the outdoors (climbing & backpacking), meditation, and playing soccer. Next fall I will be beginning my PhD in Education at Harvard University.
I am proud to be a part of Varsity Tutors! I am originally from San Antonio, TX; I completed my undergraduate education at Rice University in Houston where I received a bachelor's degree in Biochemistry and Cell Biology. Currently, I am in my second year of medical school at Baylor College of Medicine.

Frequently Asked Questions
Varsity Tutors connects students across Hoffman Estates's 15 schools with personalized tutoring support. Whether your student attends a public school in the District 54 or District 211 systems or a private institution, we match them with tutors who understand the local curriculum and academic expectations in the area.
With nearly 10,000 students across Hoffman Estates, we see strong demand for math and science tutoring, particularly as students progress through algebra, geometry, and chemistry courses. English language arts support is also popular, especially for students working on writing skills and test preparation for the ACT and SAT.
While Hoffman Estates schools maintain a 13.4:1 student-teacher ratio, individual classroom sizes can still make it difficult for teachers to address every student's unique learning needs. Personalized 1-on-1 tutoring fills that gap by providing focused attention on your student's specific challenges, whether that's building foundational skills or accelerating ahead.
The first session focuses on getting to know your student—their learning style, current academic level, specific challenges, and goals. The tutor will assess where your student stands, identify gaps, and create a personalized plan tailored to help them succeed in their Hoffman Estates school coursework.
Tutors work with students on the specific Illinois State Standards and benchmarks that Hoffman Estates schools follow. Whether your student needs support with Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) preparation, core subject mastery, or advanced coursework, personalized instruction ensures they're building the exact skills and knowledge expected at their grade level.
