I am a graduate of Arizona State University. I received my Bachelor degree in Secondary Education with an emphasis in Biology and Masters in Curriculum and Instruction. I have taught in the Gilbert Public Schools system for nine years. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about Biology, Ecology, Genetics and Anatomy/Physiology. In my experience helping struggling students I have found that the best way to learn is to have fun while you are learning and to make it apply to the real world. I am a firm supporter of education, and I believe that it can be fun and if I can kindle a love for learning, I will. In my spare time, I spend as much time outside playing with my two children and tending to my garden.

I started as a BSW then ADN, bridge to masters and the EDD. I have been a University of Texas at El Paso School of Nursing faculty member for fifteen years in both the RN to BSN and traditional programs. Before starting at UTEP, I worked med-surge and cardiac drug research for several years. I then moved into Quality Management and bariatric surgery. My areas of interest include chronic illnesses, mindfulness and stress, renal, and currently COVID-19.I am board-certified Holistic Nurse, Nurse Educator, and a Plane Tree Fellow. I was inducted into the Global Academy of Holistic Nursing this summer. I am also certified as a Mindfulness Life Coach, Meditation Guide, Reiki Master, Yoga Instructor, and Certified in Capacitar.

I received my Master of Arts in International Development at Clark University. During my time at Clark, I focused extensively on intercultural communication, international affairs and development, policy, education, and diving into economics. I have worked within a variety of community colleges as an instructor and spent a lot of time working with high school-aged students on career development and tutoring a variety of subjects.Currently, I am a high school teacher where I teach and tutor students on subjects such as Social Studies, Economics, Global Studies, Government, US Government, Yearbook, and Dual Credit courses.Prior to my time at Clark University I spent a significant amount of time in Germany, so I am also able to tutor or teach German as well. I have a bachelor's degree in German as a foreign language and also worked at the University in Tubingen where I supported foreign students. I enjoy working with students very much in helping them to achieve their goals academically and personally, in each of the areas that I teach. I will be earning my Bachelor's degree in May of 2015 and beginning my master's degree in biomedical engineering in August 2015. The research that I have been working on is studying more direct routes of drug delivery within the body as well as developing code for counting cells. I am an avid learner and love to share my knowledge with those around me. My favorite courses to tutor are predominantly quantitative. I like to treat these courses like an intricate puzzle that I have to solve using the skills in my "skill tool belt". I would love to share my enthusiasm for these courses with the students I tutor, helping them realize their skills and increasing their confidence in the material. It is extremely important for me to see my students succeed not only in school, but also in the other activities that they pursue. When I am not at school or working in my lab, I like to rock climb and boulder (mostly indoors), read books, participate in the occasional yoga classes, and I absolutely love doing jigsaw puzzles.

Passionate about sharing my learning with younger students in the community, I was also a primary instructor for the Kumon Math and Reading Center, where I spent three years teaching math and reading to students who ranged from pre-K to 12th grade. Additionally, as an assistant instructor for the Arizona Science Center's Camp Innovation, I empowered youth by delivering science programming to children between the ages of four and seven. Through such experiences, I've realized the impact that I can have as a tutor.In addition to helping students understand their classwork and improve their grades, I have the opportunity to build positive relationships, bring motivation to those in need of it, and most importantly, help others succeed after recognizing their potential. Although I tutor a wide range of subjects, my favorite subjects to tutor are those related to math and science because I believe in the importance of building STEM literacy.In my free time, I enjoy hiking, drawing, playing my viola, listening to music, and traveling.
