I want to be well-rounded in my life. However, we all have our strengths and weaknesses. I could talk about my journey through university, my experiences in the U.S. Air Force, my involvement in various volunteer programs, and my employment, because these have all paved the way for the graduate school admissions process. Mostly, though, you probably want to know whether I can get you the grade you're looking for in your classes, and that's understandable! The principles behind the tutoring process are the most important aspects of tutoring itself, for they enable us to be flexible and adaptable without going off-track. Once you have the basic principles deeply ingrained in your habits, you'll be ready for all kinds of variations. If that is something you want to achieve, then I am here to help, just as I too was once helped. I want to see you master these subjects. Moreover, I want to see you enjoy the process of mastering your studies. My inclination towards tutoring began in high school, when I began receiving help from a friend. Because my tutor was also a peer, I felt less intimidated; I felt at ease to question, to challenge, and to reiterate the concept until I understood it. Conversely, when I had a better understanding of a certain subject area, I found myself giving explanations to my other friends, helping them while reinforcing my own knowledge. I managed to do well throughout my studies. My strength in science and mathematics enable me to fulfill the prerequisites for graduate school in health sciences. Retaining this knowledge will also help serve as the foundation to my future studies. As I've mentioned previously, there was a time when I too needed help to push through the tough parts of my studies. But it was not an aimless effort. I've developed study habits and achievable goals along the way. I believe that in order to gain understanding of a subject, it is essential to have awareness of a principle or concept that can be applied over and over again. Therefore, I want to dedicate time to laying a proper foundation for the delivery of a concept, and for the acceptance and application of that concept. The point is this: you have to be involved and immersed in the process in order for a concept to become your default thought process.Similarly, I always attempted numerous practice questions to make concepts stick. It takes preparation and it takes practice. I did not learn to do the problem by watching someone else solve it for me--I followed the concept and solved it on my own. Karl Marx once said "theory without practice is sterile, and practice without theory is blind." The goal is to eventually put yourself in the driver seat, and to feel comfortable when faced with another problem. My central message is of the utmost simplicity. Unfortunately, simplicity usually comes wrapped in great complexity, just as something very complex is made of simple elements. I hope I can help you become an individual who is not deterred by the problem presented. Rather, you will face the problem with the understanding that you will now be able to break it down into simple questions, even when there's no obvious solution. Not every problem can be or will be solved, but with the correct reasoning and deduction, you can be assured that you will be a step closer towards the answer. Finally, I believe you must find confidence and happiness in anything that you do. I often supplement my study with music or workouts, both of which motivate me to go towards that next challenge in my life. Being persistent in developing your own personal application is the key to retaining knowledge. In essence, all I can do is give you the assistance necessary so that you can learn in your own unique way. I hope you may have gained something by reading over some of these points, and are now ready to find your happiness in the process of learning.

I am a public health enthusiast and a medical student. I earned my Bachelor's in Biology and a minor in Anthropology from Brooklyn College. I have a Master's in Public Health with a concentration in Health Behaviors and Policy, from St. George's University in Grenada, West Indies. Grenada is where I developed my love for Public Health. I did grassroots work in Community Health and Needs Assessment and worked with Grenadian authorities in order to improve health behaviors in the Grand Anse Valley community in Grenada.Throughout my academics, I have always had a passion to teach. During my undergrad years I worked with Pre-K children through Americorps' Jumpstart program. I learned how to communicate with children who were between the ages of 3 and 5 years and came to a better understanding of how children learn from their environment. After my graduation, I taught 8th graders who were being home-schooled. I absolutely loved to create a bit of excitement in learning science and math. And, during med school, I tutored my peers and younger colleagues to tackle subjects like Anatomy and Physiology. I wanted to make their path through med school a little bit easier and less stressful. My approach to tutoring is that of understanding subjects, rather than rushing to the answer. I have always believed that the confidence students have in themselves plays a big role in learning, whereas fear and anxiety are a hindrance to learning and memory. This is a key player when it comes to exams as well. My main goal is always to help the student to learn how to maneuver through problems and obstacles even if they haven't come across them before. This always helps them to become confident in themselves and to not let challenges bring them down.

I have a Masters in Public Health from University of the Sciences in Philadelphia. I received my Bachelor of Sciences in Pre-Medical Studies at Philadelphia University. I also got a post-baccalaureate from Drexel University in Pre-Medical Sciences which has exposed me extensively to all sorts of clinical and gross anatomy and physiology. I work as an Anatomy and Physiology Lab Instructor at Philadelphia University. I also work in the life sciences industry working with knee and hip implants. I also tutored as a work study during my undergraduate career in A&P I and II. I am most passionate about science, environmental health, and health policy. I am used to using all kinds of tools to teach students the material. I am proficient in personality and learning skills typing which helps me customize the tutoring experience for my students. I am passionate about the use of technology so expect to use many technological tools for educational purposes. In my experience helping struggling students prepare these tools can be of great help breaking the ice into the material before and after sessions. I am a firm but kind in my teaching ability and I promote and encourage students to understand the material in a way that is always interesting and applicable to their daily lives. In my spare time, I enjoy singing, writing, listening to music, and watching TV shows.

I'm a PhD in the molecular sciences. Although I've done a lot of schoolwork, I appreciate the difficulty some students have with difficult subjects (mine was Calculus), and trying to concentrate when studying is the last thing I want to think about. My goal is to help you plan out your studies so that you can maximize your potential with the minimum amount of work. Sometimes it's hard for some teachers to break down a complex topic for burgeoning learners because they themselves approach it from a higher level and can't think at a low enough level. After a year of science outreach in high-need Nashville public schools, I've found that I have a knack for breaking down complex concepts to an easy-to-digest format that incorporates math and literature comprehension into real scientific problems.Fortunately, the more I learned about a subject matter, the easier it has been to find meaning and see how it fits into a bigger picture.I want to help you understand things in a big-picture way with real-life examples (usually in the hard sciences). This hopefully will help you with comprehension and memorization.

As a graduate of Visitation Academy in St. Louis and a proud student of the University of Tulsa, I have always prioritized education in my own life and hope to do the same for others. I majored in Biology with a minor in Psychology and hope to attend veterinary school in the fall, so I do possess a medical background. I love everything to do with biology and am open to all disciplines of that science; along with biology, I am a proficient writer and would be glad to assist anyone struggling with essay writing or needing help with literature analysis. When tutoring, I try to emphasize the most important aspects of a subject and then narrow the focus on critical points so as not to overwhelm the student. I enjoy using mnemonics and wordplay to help ease the burden of memorization that is so often affiliated with biology and I understand any frustration a student may have with the subject. I also have helped friends and siblings with essays of all types and am happy to help anyone willing to strengthen their writing. I have a pretty flexible schedule and am open to students of all ages.

I am only as good as the knowledge I can pass on. We work best only when we are being challenged by the very same people we are trying to teach. In doing so, as tutors , we are constantly reminded on the need to stay current, to continuously strive to add more to our arsenal of information and to simultaneously be prepared to reinvent oneself in a very short period of time. It is my belief that that is what it takes to be a competent tutor. It is also my belief that I come through on the very same standards I set others and that I am prepared to work hard, not for myself but for you.
