I am a student at Arizona State University in the biomedical engineering department. I will be earning my Bachelor's degree in May of 2015 and beginning my master's degree in biomedical engineering in August 2015. The research that I have been working on is studying more direct routes of drug delivery within the body as well as developing code for counting cells. I am an avid learner and love to share my knowledge with those around me. My favorite courses to tutor are predominantly quantitative. I like to treat these courses like an intricate puzzle that I have to solve using the skills in my "skill tool belt". I would love to share my enthusiasm for these courses with the students I tutor, helping them realize their skills and increasing their confidence in the material. It is extremely important for me to see my students succeed not only in school, but also in the other activities that they pursue. When I am not at school or working in my lab, I like to rock climb and boulder (mostly indoors), read books, participate in the occasional yoga classes, and I absolutely love doing jigsaw puzzles.

After nearly forty years as a trial attorney, it is time for me to move to a new phase of my career. Education is not really a ???new phase??? as trying a case to a jury is primarily an educational activity where the classroom is the courtroom. More than anything, a lawyer trying a case is a teacher.Additionally, having taught in a classroom, I know the profound rewards of inspiring older and younger students to become more than they were before they entered. Teaching is about the future. Each student with whom I work gets a learning program specifically geared to his or her needs and goals. As we work together, those goals and needs may change and the student and I will adjust accordingly. The way a student learns best is as unique as their fingerprint and that is the way my instruction is developed for each student.

I am a rising junior at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign studying Computer Engineering. I love learning and teaching math, science, and programming. I have mentored kids ranging from 5-15 and worked as a counselor for a science camp. My favorite subject to tutor would be programming since I have had a lot of experience in the area and it's so amazing to see students with little to no experience code their first projects. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and occasionally will embark on small side projects to spend my time.

I am an ivy league educated professional with a J.D. and work experience in higher education. I have always been passionate about education and helping other people. Additionally, I absolutely love children and am a parent myself. As such, I understand the importance of making sure you and/or your child is succeeding and learning at an age-appropriate level both for the benefit of learning and to boost confidence. I am extremely patient and organized and feel personally rewarded when I am able to help someone learn something new or understand a new concept. One of the most important ways to work toward positive results is to understand the person with whom you are working and what his/her learning style is. Everyone grasps concepts in different ways and at different rates. I modify my tutoring approach based on the individual's needs and comfort level.I was a Psychology major in college and have been in counseling positions for the last 10 years. My approach involves spending some initial time discussing what the client's needs or concerns are in order to make sure I understand the goal. From there I discuss possible approaches, suggesting more than one to see what would work best for the client and motivate him/her the most, and then beginning the work. I try to make learning fun but am results oriented. Tutoring is a customer service position so I do modify my approach and assistance based on what the client's expectations are. I hope to have the opportunity to work with you!
