PSAT Tutoring review by Nick in Enterprise, NV
This was a rather in depth first meeting. The test she took for today and the test we went over had a lot of off the wall, uncommon questions on them. We went over Nuclear chemistry and freezing point depression and boiling point elevation. She will take another test between now and our next meeting.

PSAT Tutoring review by Scott in Enterprise, NV
This was our first session, so I introduced the format of the test, and got a sense of the student's goals and progress thus far. We then focused on geometry, going over the basic concepts and doing some practice problems. I will review these concepts with the student next session, and we will continue with algebra.

PSAT Tutoring review by Joseph in Enterprise, NV
This was the second of the two sessions on Friday between him and myself. Since this was our final session, he and I once more reviewed geometry concepts, the area of the math section in which he felt most concerned. We worked through some verbal and reading material, as well. We finished the session reviewing some general strategies for taking the test, such as guessing if he can eliminate wrong answers, prioritizing the analogies (with which he is more comfortable) over the synonyms during the verbal section, and skipping questions which he instinctively feels will be too time-consuming to answer. Overall, he felt very prepared coming into our sessions, and if he struggles on the test, it will almost certainly be due to the vocabulary he is likely to encounter. I told him that, if he takes the test again in the winter, that learning as much vocabulary as possible should be his top priority.

PSAT Tutoring review by Bailey in Enterprise, NV
This was the student and I's first session together. He will be taking the SSAT Upper Level sometime soon. He has taken the SSAT before and did well on the math section, but not as well on the reading comprehension and verbal sections. We started on reading skills. He said that he felt that he struggled most with was literary fiction. We read two stores, Jude the Obscure and Tom Brown's School Days then answered questions about the stories. This question had to do with point-of-view, use of vocabulary and certain phrases, character descriptions, tone, inferences and summarizing. We moved onto verbal skills. The first thing we looked at were identifying Latin and Greek prefixes. Then we looked at solving analogies. The student did very well with everything that we talked about today.

PSAT Tutoring review by Matt in Enterprise, NV
To prepare for the physics subject test, we went over a big list of formulas that might come up for each topic. The student should make flashcards to memorize these, with a special focus on dynamics, electro-mag, and optics.

The student and I made it through 2 hours! He was great and his endurance was great. I think we made some good headway on math. He has homework for next week to do 10 questions on a math PSAT diagnostic test and send me the results by exiting the test and clicking on the email button.
