I am a graduate of Park University, where I received a Biology degree with a minor in Chemistry. I have since gone back to school and am currently studying applied physics at the University of Kansas, where I am also a teaching assistant in the physics department. I have been involved in tutoring since my high school days, where I received the International Baccalaureate Diploma from North Kansas City High School. Tutoring was an important component of the community service aspect of the diploma, and I was able to work with students in the areas of Algebra 1, Geometry, and Biology. In college, I was also involved in tutoring, working with students in a range of subjects from College Algebra to Calculus in math, and all sorts of science courses, including Genetics, Physics, and Molecular Cell Biology. I tutor a wide range of math and science classes, but my favorites are Algebra, Calculus, and Physics. When working with a student, I have found that showing the student that you are excited and interested in the subject, as well as connecting it to a real world situation or profession makes the atmosphere fun and relaxed. Under those circumstances, learning is easier and the knowledge is more effectively retained. I believe that a strong math and science education lays the foundation for success in any field, as skills such as critical thinking can be broadly applied to all career paths. I am a future law student currently taking a gap year. I graduated from UNCG with a B.S in Economics and a minor in Business and Pre-Law. I am a recent college graduate from SUNY Albany. I received my BA in Sociology with a minor in Psychology. I'm planning to go to Hunter College in the fall to pursue my Masters in Social Work.I've tutored elementary school aged students in math, spelling, science, reading, and writing comprehension. I've also tutored fellow classmates from high school/college in Beginner Spanish (Spanish 1), and various math subjects/levels.

I am a graduate of the University of Central Oklahoma and I received my graduate degree in Special Education from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. I received my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education in 1996 and my graduate degree in 2014. After receiving my undergraduate degree, I spent 16 years teaching 2nd and 3rd grade. I really had a calling for working with students that struggled understanding the concepts. After my son was born and it was determined that he had a learning disability, I decided to get a graduate degree in Special education. I now teaching children with a wide range of disabilities from Autism to Down Syndrome and everything in between. This has been the most rewarding decision in my adult life. I am a firm proponent of education, believing it to be absolutely necessary for an improved quality of life, and I try to impart this appreciation to all of my students. In my spare time, I enjoy exercising, running, and spending time with my husband and three children. We will often spend time with my parents fishing and enjoying the outdoors together.

In those last 3 years, I ran the AP English III sections as well as led the English III team at my school. I have a special interest in rhetoric and persuasion, writing, and literature. Being a visual learner myself, I use the method of demonstration throughout tutoring sessions. It's one thing to hear a concept repeatedly. However, I find that taking a more hands-on approach not only dives deeper into concepts but also keeps students more engaged with the material being taught.
