I had previously contacted the student regarding having two sessions a week until we have filled in gaps and he is caught up, so we met today and will be meeting on Thursday this week. Today, we focused on filling in gaps for velocity/speed and distance/displacement. I was incredibly happy with the progress made. He did not have a notion of vector addition and x-y components of velocity which prevented him from understanding projectile motion, but now he understands it better thanks to some creative thought projects and visual representations. He was able to solve a variety of practice problems with limited help. Thursday, we will focus on projectile motion specifically and hopefully get to begin discussing inertia, the current topic in his physics class.

Physics Tutoring review by Devon in Cedar Park, TX
This session focused on introducing the new unit to the student. We covered many principles of Work and Energy, focusing on elastic potentials, and the conservation of energy. We also went into an in-depth discussion of what work really is to elucidate many less conspicuous, yet salient, points. She continues to perform really well.

Physics Tutoring review by Michael in Cedar Park, TX
Today we worked with geometric optics to prepare for a quiz the student has this week. We started with practice problems on lenses and mirrors. We wrote out a sheet that maps out sign conventions for convex and concave mirrors and lenses for object and image distances, focal length, and magnification. We also worked on problems dealing with Snell's law and internal reflection (critical angles). I feel that the student has a good understanding for this material, and with a little more preparation will be in good shape for the quiz.

Physics Tutoring review by Marline in Cedar Park, TX
We went through trigonometry to help her with the scalar quantity of physics. I created and gave her questions in geometry progression using physics components. She was able to understand a lot more because of the progression.

Physics Tutoring review by Katherine in Cedar Park, TX
Today we worked on circuits with resistors in parallel and in series. We talked about voltage drops across resistors and the differences in the voltage drops when resistors are in series and parallel. We used Ohm's law and P = IV to calculate I, V and Power. The student seemed a little unsure about these at first, but I think she's catching on. She is good at finding equivalent resistance.
