I am a current graduate student at Columbia University in the City of New York. Tutoring since high school, I have worked with students ages 11-22 (from middle school through college) in subjects as varied as math, organizational skills, PRAXIS prep, and of course, biochemistry! Additionally, I am well-versed in GRE, SAT, ACT, and AP exam coaching. Outside of the classroom, I have and continue to work in biochemical laboratories, play viola in an orchestra, and cross-country hike. As a student of pedagogy, I adapt to each student's unique needs to deliver hands-on approaches that use real world examples and provide mastery in comprehension. I am a recent Cornell University graduate (Dec '23) majoring in Biological Sciences with a focus on Genetics, Genomics, and Development. My passion lies in healthcare, as I am currently preparing to attend medical school this upcoming fall. However, I have always had an interest in teaching. I started as a general chemistry TA, supporting students during problem solving sessions. Then, I helped teach our genetics lecture course, coordinating individual and group tutoring sessions that guided students in content application. This position transformed into a leadership role, organizing our teaching team while spearheading an initiative to train fellow teaching assistants in pedagogical techniques that I learned in a course I took on the art of teaching. Lastly, in an ethics of medicine course of non-STEM majors, I prepared and facilitated discussion sections on current topics in personalized medicine. These experiences, combined with my time as a teaching assistant in correctional facilities, helped me grow as a varsity tutor now going into my 4th year on this platform. Given this breadth of experience teaching diverse and unique students, I am eager and excited to support young scientists in any subject related to this field.

I am an MD/PhD student at Northwestern University (PhD Chemistry). I previously received my B.S. in Chemical Science from the University of Michigan in 2020, and am continuing my education both in medicine and in organic synthesis. Although I am capable of tutoring a number of academic topics, my expertise specifically lies in organic chemistry. It is my goal to provide students a fundamental feel for and understanding of chemistry which will enable them to critically analyze problems as opposed to relying on memorization. Outside of classroom, I've both worked on and led a number of academic research, industry, and engineering projects. Additionally, I enjoy photography, going on long walks, and binging TV shows!

I am firmly of the belief that learning a technical subject like chemistry, physics, or math is much like learning a foreign language: listening and reading is much easier than speaking and writing. It is all too easy to fall into the trap of believing that if you come to class and understand what the instructor is saying, you don't need to practice the material. Accordingly, I emphasize the need to practice "speaking" the language on a regular basis and to receive immediate feedback on one's learning. In my free time I enjoy woodworking and playing with Legos with my small children.

I am extremely invested in making challenging topics less intimidating and am happy to work with students of all levels!

I am a science student excited to share how I have been successful in STEM fields. My goal is to help students build critical thinking and problem solving skill while developing an appreciation for science in a greater context. My greatest expertise is in chemistry and math, although I can help in a broad range of STEM subjects. I hope to learn with you soon!

I am passionate about teaching because I understand greatly a lot of the academic struggles and problems students may face through education, especially as a first generation college student. Currently I am studying for my medical doctorate degree (M.D.) at the Medical College of Wisconsin. I graduated UCLA with a Biology degree with Asian Languages minor in 2019, cum laude honors. Both during my undergrad and days since, I had a chance to tutor private clients in Southern California and work for a few exam prep companies. I enjoy tutoring math, sciences (chemistry, biology mainly), social sciences (history, politics), essay writing, and Japanese. I also help assist in studying for standardized exams (SAT, ACT, SAT Subject, AP, MCAT, PCAT, OAT)! My tutoring style will be very direct in trying to identify gaps in knowledge and working/practicing on those gaps. I like to be interactive and answer the students' questions directly. I strongly believe education is one path in which students may be able to reach their dreams and I will be your supporter along the way. In my free time, I enjoy playing the piano, practicing martial arts, and watching anime/playing games.

I graduated with honors and recognition in Biology Research & with special recognition by the Guidance Department. I have also been dancing for the last seven years and am versed in modern, hip-hop, contemporary, kathak, and Bhangra. I have also been a professional photographer for the last 4 years. I am involved in several organizations at Cornell and hold leadership positions in several. I have conducted original research through the American Museum of Natural History, and upon graduating from Cornell, I hope to enter the Healthcare Management/Consulting field or go to medical school.
