Microbiology Tutoring review by Eric in Georgetown, TX
The student did well today. We went over angular momentum, the right hand rule, and some other physics problems. She received a B on her take home test. I think she's within striking distance of the grade she would like to receive in the course. All it takes now is a strong finish.

Today we continued talking about the ideal gas law. The student remembered how to convert and is quite good at it now. She did a great job completing the equations that we practiced yesterday, although we introduced a few new factors today. We then attempted another one of her homework problems, but then realized that we hadn't covered the topic yet. For tomorrow, we will continue with the gas laws and start Dalton's Law.

Microbiology Tutoring review by Kyaw in Georgetown, TX
In this session with the student, I covered section on electric charges, particularly concepts of charges, methods of charging and Coulomb's law and related problems. He had a good understanding of conceptual questions such as conductors, insulators, methods of induction but struggled with solving charge problems using Coulomb's law, particularly with handling numbers, so we spent time working on the problems while I made sure he understood the problems and solved them right. After a couple problems, the student gained a better understanding and was able to solve them correctly. Our session was productive and went well.

We worked on Ecology and Evolution today. The student had a couple of review sheets for the EOCT that she was using to prepare. Although she seems familiar with most of the vocabulary/concepts associated with evolution, she cannot answer analytical questions that require differentiating and applying that vocabulary. Since the student seems to be a visual learner, I told her mother to find/request her teacher for some relevant material that we can go over.

Microbiology Tutoring review by Elijah in Georgetown, TX
The student and I worked on a new lesson he is starting in chemistry: thermodynamics. We focused on an online quiz that covered the new lesson. A lot of the questions focused on being able to visualize heat and energy transfers. We worked on coming up with real world examples to help make these visualizations easier. The rest of problems focused on math equations having to do with heat capacities and temperature. The focus here was to show the student that even though these problems are different than those in previous lessons, they can still be solved the same way. We went through the same series of steps used in previous lessons to draw out a path to the right answer. All mathematical chemistry questions essentially revolve around proper unit conversions and that's what I'd like the student to understand and be proficient at towards the end of this lesson.

Microbiology Tutoring review by Ashna in Georgetown, TX
We covered microbial nutrition, cleaning, disinfection and immune system defenses today. We also went over more biochemistry relating to microbiology. The student needed help a bit with the more complex mechanisms of some of these topics, but seemed to have an overall good hold over it. She was very engaged with the material and has been working really hard. We went over the strategies of properly understanding the subtle differences in vocabulary between terms to get the answers correct. I left her with extra practice questions.
