I hold a Ph.D. from Columbia University and bring over twenty years of tutoring and teaching experience. I provide highly personalized one-on-one lessons in all areas of chemistry, physics and math.Throughout my career, tutoring and teaching has been one of my passions. I have tutored over a hundred students spanning a broad range of ages and backgrounds, from elementary school through post-graduate continuing education. The subjects I taught include quantitative and subject (Chemistry and Physics) SAT preparation, all areas of math, chemistry and physics, as well as preparation for the New York State Exams. My classroom teaching experience encompassed nearly four years as a full-time faculty member at Boston College, where I taught undergraduate and graduate courses in chemistry. In addition, I worked as math instructor for an advanced after-school program for children in grades 1-8.I believe that personal tutoring is one of the most effective methods of teaching as it allows the pace of the lessons to be carefully matched to the student, so that learning is at the same time challenging, but not overwhelming. Based on my experience, I can guarantee improvement, regardless of your current level or background.

I have been teaching and tutoring non-stop for the past three and a half years. I taught high school chemistry and general science, running labs, lessons, and anything else that was required. While doing that, I started teaching LSAT classes after work. Now, I'm a full time tutor, devoted to helping students score higher on tests and do better in classes. Because I've been a science teacher, I know how they think, why they do certain labs, and what they're likely to ask in tests. For LSAT, I've never worked with a student one-on-one and not raised his or her score.I love teaching, and would love to work with you!

I have enjoyed exceptional success both in standardized tests and in a conceptual approach in science. A spectacular GRE score helped me cross the entire globe (I did my undergrad at IIT-Kanpur, India) and landed at Yale for Graduate School. My research earned me the most coveted award for a student in any field and at any level at Yale at the end of my Ph.D.: the only time it was awarded to STEM in 35 years! Now, completely immersed in research in developing best the material for clean energy technology, I really miss the teaching that I immensely enjoyed for last 10 years. My secret: success in tests (and maybe in life, too) comes from not just what we know, but what we can deliver in a short time, when demanded. I learned the methods in a hard way. I aim to work with students who are like I once was: struggling, needing an extra push, or stuck on a problem without a solution. I hope to transplant what I have learned into young minds. I hope to help today's dreamers become tomorrow's most promising scientists, engineers, and doctors.

I graduated from the University of Washington with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering in 2012 and will be returning to the UW to pursue a PharmD degree in 2013. I have been tutoring for six years, both informally and through organizations such as UW and Bellevue College. I like teaching and continue to tutor because I enjoy helping students improve.I believe anyone can learn math and science. I work with my students to help them understand not only how to solve problems, but also the fundamental concepts behind them.

Chemistry is complex but doesn't have to be difficult. As both a student of Chemistry and a Chemistry department tutor while in college, conquering this demanding subject requires the right mindset and tools. As a tutor, students sought out my services to help understand key concepts, homework practice problems, exams, and lab write-ups. My experience tutoring a diverse group of Chemistry students allows me to know where the difficulties lie, where students typically fall behind, and the pitfalls that creep up on exams. My tutoring style deconstructs concepts in a way that students can personally relate to, and by using visual analogies, I demystify the math between the atoms while not reinforcing memorization like many instructors. Because of my success, my students often told me that I should be the teacher. So I decided to do just that and am now on the fast track to become a high school Chemistry teacher. After college, I worked at a pathology company preparing and screening cytology specimens for the presence of cancer. While I found the work rewarding, it was largely unfulfilling. Tutoring and teaching are my passion, but in my free time I also enjoy backpacking, kayaking, and tennis.Whatever your chemistry challenge, I am happy and able to help you meet your unique needs.

I am a graduate of Clark University where I received my B.A in Physics and Mathematics. I grew up going between Los Angeles and Paris, always in a French school so I quickly became bilingual.I have always loved science, in particular physics and mathematics and have been lucky enough to share this with others through tutoring. I can help with all levels of math and physics up through graduate level course work. I also can tutor all levels of French as I have taken the French baccalaureat. I started tutoring in high school, everything from math, literature, to French and Latin. I have worked mostly with high school, college students and adults, but have also helped younger students accomplish their goals. I love teaching and find it wonderful when I help my students understand complex concepts. Though hard science can be scary, all my students have come to have a much deeper understanding of it which is a reward in itself. In my free time I enjoy traveling, playing music, and computer programming. In my free time I like to discover new things about the city

I am a graduate from Duke University with a B.S. in Neuroscience and a minor in Chemistry. As a neuroscience major, my focus was on cognitive neuroscience and, particularly, in using electroencephalography (EEG) to understand how visual distractors interfere with ongoing brain processes associated with cognitive performance. My current work at the Clinical and Translational Neuroscience Branch and Dynamic Imaging Core of the NIMH involves leveraging multiple brain imaging modalities (e.g., functional MRI (fMRI), diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) and magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS)) and the power of Genome Wide Association analysis to investigate single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) that might predict brain activation and connectivity patterns found in schizophrenia patients.I believe a commitment to education and to life-long learning is essential for a successful and meaningful existence. During my journey as a student I have come to love the process of scientific inquiry and how it allows us to understand, predict and shape reality. Tutoring students contributes greatly to my sense of self-fulfillment, as it allows me to share some of my passion for science and, at the same time, help others thrive and achieve their educational and career goals.I have worked as a mathematics tutor for middle school students of public schools located in underserved communities of Durham and as a teaching assistant for calculus-based undergraduate physics courses at Duke University. Additionally, during my time as a medical student in Brazil, I worked as teaching assistant for the cardiac physiology graduate course of University of Brasilia's School of Medicine. These experiences allowed me to work with students of multiple ages, educational levels, socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds and to develop an appreciation for individual uniqueness when it comes to learning strategies and preferences. As such, I try to respect each student's learning pace, level of comfort/aptitude for a particular subject and learning style when organizing a tutoring session. To me, studying should be not only about achieving academic success but, primarily, about having fun and developing an appreciation for continuous learning.I tutor human physiology, pharmacology, anatomy (neuroanatomy in particular), biology, chemistry (honors chemistry, physical chemistry), physics (classical mechanics, electricity & magnetism), algebra (1-3/4), pre-calculus, calculus I & II, SAT subject test prep (Biology E/M, Chemistry & Physics), MCAT test prep (Biological Sciences, Physical Sciences and Verbal Reasoning), Spanish and computer science (python programming in particular). Amongst these, I am particularly fond of teaching physics and of helping students prepare for and feel confident about taking the MCAT. In my spare time, I enjoy practicing yoga and meditation, biking, baking vegan desserts, playing my electric guitar, reading fantasy/sci-fi novels and watching a great soccer match.

I am a public school teacher (Chemistry and Living Environment) but can tutor most sciences. I truly believe in differentiated learning and once I know the learning style of a student, I tailor my teaching style for optimum time usage. I love to utilize stories from my real life experiences in labs to help students understand the implications of their science education.

I recently received my Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from San Diego State. I've always loved puzzles and problem solving, so naturally math and science have always been my strong suits. As a matter of fact, Calculus was, and still is, my favorite subject. As an Engineer I am also well grounded in Physics and Chemistry. I've always been a good test-taker and I know what it takes to get the grades. I know that it can make a huge difference to have some one-on-one help. I like to have fun with whatever I do, but more than anything, I want to make a difference. In my free time I love to play and listen to music or play any kinds of sports (especially ultimate frisbee).

I have always had a mind for mathematics and science. Because of this gift, I was always the one person in class everyone asked for help. I learned quickly how to teach others, which helped in my home life as I had a younger brother who was not so gifted in math. Through him, and his friends who also struggled with mathematics, I found that most people struggle with math because they believe it is too difficult. I believe by being a tutor and helping others learn I can impart my wisdom to the next generation and make a difference in the world. What sparked my interest in Biology was an interest in life. I loved animals and learning about them. This love for animals narrowed to a love of the complexity of the human system, which I am now studying. When I'm not studying I enjoy music of all genre. From VNV Nation to Trivium to Earth, Wind, and Fire, I love all music and can appreciate most music. I also enjoy reading novels, preferably those in the realm of science fiction. And though I can enjoy playing video games in a casual sense, I'd much prefer walking Kennesaw Mountain or skiing on Lake Altoona. It is my hope that through my experiences as a knowledgeable brother, friend, and tutor, I can also help a broader range of people learn the subjects they are experiencing difficulties in.
