I am working on using magnetic and flow fields to create advanced materials by directing the self-assembly process of nanoparticles . I have tutored students in Chemistry, Physics and Math all throughout undergraduate and graduate work. I truly enjoy breaking material down into its core components that allows the students to understand complicated information.

I have been tutoring all levels of math and science for the past 14 years. I am driven by a desire to help people succeed because I believe that almost everything in this world comes down to how we were taught. It took me years to learn to swim. I got the stroke patterns down early but it wasn't until someone told me to exhale all the way through not just into the water but as my face is leaving the water that I really got it. I worked for four years in a quantum photonics lab developing cryogenic experiments studying the solid state behavior of DNA and RNA nucleotide. Additionally, I worked in a material processing lab optimizing the synthesis size of gold nano-rods and began developing starting materials for non-linear optics liquid crystals polymers. I tutored various chemistry subjects through a free service for the students at Montana State. I thoroughly enjoyed being able to work one-on-one with students. Chemistry is a complex subject and developing a students learning style and being able to adapt the information to the students needs is extremely important. Everyone learns in a slightly different way and I feel that my diverse knowledge in chemistry allows me help students look at the problem in the way that suits there learning style best. I also use a lot of visualization techniques to help bring the ideas to a more concrete realm. I moved to Montana after high school for the beauty and outdoors that it offered. I am also a fanatic snowboarder and I love snow camping out in the woods at 8,000 feet. =) I try to keep balance in my life. I am a visual learner and use drawing and manipulatives to help students learn. I have taken students in my class up at least one grade level. Often my students rise more than one grade level with my help. I have used music and games to help students understand a concept. I have many different ways of helping students grasp the information.

I was born and brought up in Okemos, Michigan, a vibrant suburb near Lansing. Here, I gained a passion for education and began tutoring underserved youth in Lansing, Michigan. This passion stuck with me as I began my undergraduate education at Saint Louis University. Following the Jesuit ideals emphasized at SLU, I continued tutoring underprivileged youth in north St. Louis. I love sharing my passion for education with my students. During my senior year at SLU, I became a Physics TA and taught a class of 30 students the fundamentals of applied physics. On my journey to medical school, I studied hard for the MCAT and scored in the 98th percentile. I hope to share this success with all my students in the future.
