I am a post grad professional, with 4 years of executive work experience, who looking to share my knowledge with others. As well as, aid others in success in a variety of subjects.

As a life-long student with a passion for learning myself, I am excited at the opportunity to share my enthusiasm and expertise in the sciences and social sciences with others. I think every student, at every level can benefit from one-on-one learning; and can excel in an active learning environment where they are comfortable asking questions and engaging with material in their own way. In particular, I have a passion for working with those who struggle to find a system of academic organization and time management that works for them, and those students who need extra help in catering studying to their style of learning. In my own experiences as I student I have benefited from trying new methods and techniques in and outside of the classroom – and I want to offer that to students who may benefit from it as well.

I am a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley and Duke University. I received my Bachelor's degree in History and my Master's degree in Religious Studies. Since graduation I have tutored students in American History and Biblical Hebrew, which were exceedingly rewarding experiences. I am especially passionate in helping students learn to think critically, and enjoy the process of learning. While I tutor a variety of subjects, I am most enthusiastic about tutoring in History and Writing because these subjects utilize skills that students will use and cultivate throughout their lives and are applicable for many careers. I would describe my teaching philosophy as hands on and project-based learning. I strive to include fun and relevant videos, songs, and activities into my curriculum to ensure the engagement of my students. Outside of academia I like painting, baking, hiking, photography, and having game nights with friends.

Karen is a Spanish native speaker from Colombia. She has been teaching Spanish as second language and English to Spanish speakers of all ages. She has a Bachelors of Arts in humanities, Spanish and English as second language. She is also Montessori certified.Karen has +14 years experience teaching kids and adults helping them achieve their academic goals and improve their speaking skills.Karen has taught Spanish and English in schools, one-on-one, virtual and on-site.She has experience and academic support to teach the lessons and help students achieve what they need.

I have an early childhood/childhood education degree, with a concentration in humanities from SUNY Cortland. I am working towards my masters in educating students with disabilities B-6 from SUNY Cortland as well!

Through 10 years of teaching at three different colleges, I know that great learning comes through individual advising sessions and conversations that allow students to address their concerns, develop their skills, and work on their goals.

I graduated from The University of Toledo with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and Associate of Applied Science in Cardiovascular Technology. For approximately 8yrs I was the head coach of a high school rowing club. Setting individual and team goals, promoting hard work and team work, and encouraging a positive attitude brought success. The values I tried to teach, allowed a handful of my former athletes to be successful in there rowing career while in college. Upon completing my Associates in Cardiovascular Technology, I have worked at a local hospital for 15 years in the cardiology and vascular department. The hospital I worked at is a clinical site for a local vascular program and we have students who are enrolled in the program, rotate through. It was our duty to not only teach the students how to scan accurately, but to apply the concepts they have learned in the classroom with the ultrasound images they have obtained. I have enjoyed preparing students for the real world and provide them with as many tips as possible in order to succeed. It is truly rewarding to watch students grow professionally.

My name is Kira, and I am currently working towards a degree in Spanish and Dance at Loyola University Chicago.

I have a Bachelor of Arts in History from Holy Cross and an M.B.A. with a concentration in finance from Wake Forest. My primary areas of focus are SAT, Latin, Study Skills and Organization, Critical Reading, Essay Writing, Grammar and Literature. I find out what frustrations students are having and work with them to develop strategies to address their individual needs. In particular, I believe strongly in my writing and critical thinking skills and I believe that I can leverage these strengths to help students improve their own skills. I'm a big sports fan - especially baseball, football and golf - and I love running, reading, history and the movies.

I received my Bachelors degree in English and German as a second/foreign language (course on how to teach German) this year from the University of Bonn in Germany. Right after, I moved to Pittsburgh. During my studies I learned about different kinds of learning methods and different kind of students and the best way to interact with them to give each student a positive and individual learning experience. My motto is: You know a language, when you are able to speak it! Learning about grammar, proper pronunciation and a wide vocabulary will help to build up to it. I have tutored people with all kinds of different cultural background before before and the thing I enjoy most about tutoring is the individuality and personality. You can really get to know you students and build up a schedule based on their personal goals and needs.
