I am a graduate of Florida Atlantic University and hold a Bachelor's degree in English with a minor in Spanish and a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction: Multicultural Education. My certifications include teaching English to grades 6-12.
I have over 10 years of classroom teaching experience including Middle School Language Arts (Literature, Grammar/Spelling, Composition, World History) and High School Language Arts (ESOL English I, ESOL English II, AICE English Language, 9th Grade English SWD, 10th Grade English SWD). As a classroom teacher, I hosted tutoring sessions for groups of students from 5-200 as well as individuals (1-1). The subjects that I love to tutor in include Literature, Writing, Grammar, World History, Geography and Spanish.
Additionally, I tutor higher level test preparation such as the LSAT, GRE, GED, GMAT, etc. I can evaluate and teach testing skills and practices.
I am knowledgeable about building strong verbal, reading and written communication skills in diverse students. I work at building positive teacher-parent relationships to support student success. As a former writer/editor, I am particularly gifted in not only teaching analytical writing but also helping students develop a strong sense of voice.
Some of my skills include being an open and clear communicator and creative problem-solver.
I am passionate about dual language education and expanding global horizons through learning. During my undergraduate years, I lived and studied in Valencia, Spain which was one of the greatest educational experiences of my life so far. In my free time I love to travel, read non-fiction books, practice yoga, lift weights, watch soccer, walk on the beach and cook healthy recipes.
