I am someone who loves ideas and learning. I am always doing new things and challenging myself. Right now I am studying dance and creative writing. I have been teaching for several years now and have taught classes and workshops to children of all ages. I have worked with young children in a Montessori environment, and am currently teaching art at the Elementary level. I first considered tutoring after helping a child with math homework and realizing how my visual learning/teaching style was actually quite helpful to a student who may not have fully understood the lesson given in class. I found that it was really a great feeling to be able to see her go from being incredibly frustrated and stuck in one place to not only being able to complete her homework for that night but feeling that she truly understood the logic behind the steps. I could tell that she was proud of what she had accomplished and began thinking of herself as great at math. It is really satisfying working with students one-on-one, because unlike teaching a class of thirty kids, I can make sure that my students each have a thorough understanding and can use whatever works for them individually to get them there.

Hello students! My name is Kyle and I am a lifelong San Diegan. I currently attend Denison University in Ohio where I major in Political Science. I've had plenty of experience writing college application essays, as well as helping fellow students with their own essays. In addition, I feel that I can offer much needed clarity and advice about the college admissions process, from crafting your resume to nailing your college interview. Besides tutoring writing, I have a passion for civics and love teaching government, especially since I have had real-world experience working on political campaigns. Every AP student I have tutored, in english, history and government, has passed their exams with a three or higher. I am very proud of this fact and I look forward to having you as my student!

I am a student at the University of Utah double majoring in Writing and Rhetoric and Psychology. In the past, I frequently tutored my peers who needed help with their homework assignments, especially in math and science. I have been trained as a writing tutor through the University of Utah and I am able to help tutor all types of writing, though my specialties are psychology research papers, argumentative essays, humanities research papers, poetry, resumes, creative writing, and five paragraph essays. As a tutor, my goal is to tutor for long term understanding. I will patiently explain concepts to students and walk them through difficult problems until they have the confidence to solve the problems independently.

As a certified social studies teacher with a degree from Arcadia University in History and Secondary Education, I have expansive experience in and out of the classroom as a tutor and educator. From private tutoring to working as an Advanced Tutor during college to serving as a tutor for City Year Philadelphia, I have experience working with students from a variety of ages, abilities, needs, and interests. In addition, my time in teacher training has taught me the value of differentiated instruction and the power of forming quality relationships with students. I believe that education is the key to success and that, with the right support, each child can succeed. Some of the subjects I tutor include social studies, elementary mathematics, English, and writing. I am most passionate about tutoring history and writing as I believe that exploring our history can inform our future. Outside of tutoring, I love to run, read, cook, and spend time with friends and family.

Whether you need some help developing writing skills or are preparing to take the GRE exam, the first step is to develop a concrete plan. Working together we can identify steps that will focus on your strengths in order to bolster the areas that need further support. My background includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in Secondary Education English from York College of Pennsylvania and a Masters degree in Social Work from Widener University. I am available to offer support in GRE Verbal test preparation, essay writing and editing as well as grammar and language mechanics both in person and online. I hope to help increase your confidence by learning techniques that can be applied to a variety of situations, while concurrently reducing the anxiety that can occur with standardized testing and problem subjects. Together we can develop realistic and measurable goals while we learn new or polish existing skill sets. My time away from work is spent running or kayaking around the lake, watching films and television and trying to see as many live music acts as possible. I hope to help you achieve your goals.

Howdy! I am a current student of Ohio University. I am working towards a Bachelor of Arts in English with a focus on literature, especially concerning the English Reformation. In addition, I have already received a certificate in East Asian Studies and am pursuing minors in History and World Religions. While in college, I tend to prioritize my schoolwork above all, but in 2018 I was able to spend 6 weeks working as a writing lab tutor for Ohio University's OPIE (Ohio Program of Intensive English) program. During those 6 weeks I had the wonderful opportunity to meet with several different undergraduate ESL/ELL students and offer guidance on all parts of the academic writing process, such as: brainstorming topics, outlining and organization, proofreading for grammar and spelling errors or inconsistencies, polishing and finalization, etc. In addition, I tailored my feedback to each student according to their personality as well as their individual English level. Outside of tutoring ESL/ELL students, during my high school years I also volunteered with a team of two other students to teach German to first graders at our local elementary school. We not only created our own lesson plans for each class, but also prepared all of our own teaching materials and managed to keep the first graders' attention for full 30-minutes.If you cannot yet tell, my favorite subjects to tutor are languages. This includes learning a foreign language, but I also offer tutoring on English literature and composition at the college level and below. This also includes American literature at all levels, as well as Reading, Reading Comprehension and Writing at all levels. In addition, I am also certified through Varsity Tutors to offer tutoring on Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Basic Computer Literacy, U.S. History, AP U.S. Government & Politics, AP English Literature and Composition, AP German Language and Culture, ACT Writing, as well as non-AP levels of German and Mandarin Chinese. Thanks to my varied experience, I feel comfortable working with students of all ages and have no preference regarding a students' level of education. That is to say, everyone is welcome! I truly believe that access to education is the deciding factor in predicting a person's potential to achieve stability and happiness in their lives, so I am especially passionate about offering online tutoring to potential students. If you chose me as your online tutor, I hope that we can work together toward a shared goal: making you (or your child) the BEST and BRIGHTEST student of 2020.

I began volunteer tutoring underprivileged children in English and Spanish when I was 16 years old. Since then, I've been hired to teach people from 2 to 32 years old a variety of subjects. I received a high-caliber education at Ursuline Academy of Dallas, where I took more than a dozen honors classes. At Thomas Aquinas College, I take both learning and teaching a step further. Their unique seminar method requires students to teach one another not just occasionally, but for the duration of each class, every day. In this environment, I thrive because I know how to adapt my method to each student. I explain complicated concepts patiently, moving on only when the student can explain the concept. Patience and creativity are especially important with children, who are also some of the most rewarding students to teach. Though I excel in and enjoy a myriad of subjects, literature and writing remain my favorites because of my lifelong love of reading which is also why I work part-time in a library, repairing old books. I could spend all day in libraries, but I'd rather take my books on a hike in the beautiful hills surrounding my school. When I camp out, I can watch the stars and put my knowledge of astronomy to good use. But whether I'm hiking, book-binding, reading, or drawing planetary orbits on a blackboard, I never want to be too far from learning something new.
