I find joy in helping students meet their educational needs and helping them succeed wherever their learning takes them. As Albert Einstein indicated, "Education is not the learning of facts but the training of the mind to think." To think about your thinking is the key to education and represents my goal as a tutor. You see, critical-thinking is the pathway to engaged learning.

In these training sessions, I have learned valuable ways in which to get the students actively engaged with the mathematics. The main concepts I have regularly implemented in my classroom are having the students produce products instead of just working examples and having the students complete tasks/game-oriented assignments in small groups. The students have responded well to this and seem...

CLEP College Mathematics Tutoring FAQ
Not all students require graduate-level mastery of advanced mathematics, but this does not mean that challenging mathematics courses won't be required during the course of one's undergraduate studies. The CLEP College Mathematics exam can provide students with proof they have mastered the important topics covered in a non-major mathematics course that would fulfill the general core requirements presented by most universities for majors outside of the field of math. This allows students to advance in their degree requirements more quickly, by removing classes from their schedule for which they have no academic need. This solution is often ideal for those who have gained enough experience through careers or independent study to master the basic coursework offered by math classes such as calculus, algebra, and basic college mathematics.
Studying for one of these exams is not a simple affair, for it represents the highest point of mathematics reached by many intelligent students whose studies will take them to other domains of concentration. Students should not downplay the importance of preparing for the CLEP exam, even if they feel they have mastered the material. Varsity Tutors specializes in connecting students with experienced CLEP College Mathematics tutors who help students successfully navigate the process of exam preparation.
The CLEP College Mathematics exam covers a wide array of mathematics topics, proving mastery of concepts including mathematical logic, functions, probability, and statistics. Instead of concentrating on a single aspect of mathematics in all of its detail, CLEP College Mathematics tutoring can give students the general mathematical skills required to succeed on the exam. Given the disparate nature of the CLEP College Mathematics exam material, it is necessary for tutors to realize that each student comes into a tutoring session with a different background. Students will require far more than the impersonal assistance of a computer program or workbook to succeed on the CLEP exam.
A personal CLEP College Mathematics tutor will take the time to get to know each of their students and learn their specific strengths and weaknesses, as well as their individual learning style. By doing this, the tutor is able to make sure that the basics of the exam are covered and that any missing foundational knowledge is addressed. Custom learning plans based on student learning style are created and adapted as students demonstrate mastery in the various areas of the exam. Whether a student is in need of immediate course assistance or would like to review for exam day, CLEP College Mathematics tutoring may prove to be the best option for exam preparations.
Tutoring sessions are easier to fit into a crowded schedule than one might imagine. Tutors are very flexible when it comes to helping students find the time to make their academic success a priority. Sessions can be scheduled during the day, in the evening, and even on weekends. The Varsity Tutors live learning platform allows students to meet with a private tutor either in person or face-to-face online. This gives them the flexibility to meet with their tutor at the time and location of their choice. The location of the personal CLEP College Mathematics tutoring sessions is also flexible. Tutors understand that students also need to have options in where the sessions are held. They want to work with their students to make sessions as convenient as possible. Sessions can be scheduled at virtually any location, including the student's home, a local coffee shop, school campus, or public library.
The goal of a professional tutor is helping each student develop the important skills needed to successfully pass their exam. It is never too late to begin a program of tutoring, and Varsity Tutors can help students connect with a knowledgeable mathematics tutor immediately. Contact Varsity Tutors today for more information or to schedule a tutoring session.

Recent CLEP College Mathematics Tutoring Session Notes
Completed a math section. The content was a little easier than the other prep books, so the student did well and this boosted his confidence. He enjoyed similar success on the reading section, which I asked him to complete for homework. His focus was once again sharp.
We did a math section, a grammar section, and a little bit of reading. The student has really learned to apply the various test-taking strategies very well. It seems as if we have already eliminated any intimidation factor that comes along with many of these questions, which can open up a much more direct approach to the questions. The student continues to progress very well in all aspects.
Today, we used our time to work our way through the rest of the problem types before the student leaves for camp (yesterday, we focused on scrambled paragraphs). We spent the first hour on logical reasoning. She's starting to get a real mastery on this section. Then we spent a half hour on reading comprehension and a half hour on math. Having covered all sections in the last two days so they're fresh in her mind.
In our session today we did a comprehensive overview of the exam and went through practice problems in each section. She did best in the quantitative reasoning section and the reading comprehension section. In the math achievement section of the test there were a few problems that were simply mistakes and didn't reflect his true capabilities, she corrected them immediately. She had a few difficulties in the verbal section, but with more practice and exposure to the question types I think she will do very well.
Introduction to SAT Official Study Guide. The student and I read through the Introduction and Critical Reading sections together...to get a feel for the test format and scoring processes. I then timed her on (2) sentence completion sections, while compiling vocabulary list for research and reference. Session held on 7/11.
The student did very well on his practice ACT English test, missing only six questions altogether and figuring out most of his errors on his own. His practice ACT Writing prompt, however, did not go as well. We will need to come back to work on writing strategies later. We also began reviewing ACT Math, and I assigned a practice Math section for next time.
