The ACT is an exam given to more than 1.65 million students in the US each year. Created to determine how ready a high school student is to attend college, it's used by most American colleges, and some in other countries, as part of the admissions process. The content tested on the ACT is covered in high school courses. Varsity Tutors can help you find content as well as ACT study skills and organization tutoring to meet your individual needs.
The ACT exam is made up of the following multiple-choice sections:
- English, where you have 45 minutes to answer 75 questions
- Math, where you have 60 minutes to answer 60 questions
- Reading, where you have 35 minutes to answer 40 questions
- Science, where you have 35 minutes to answer 40 questions
ACT study skills and organization tutoring is beneficial to students, because nearly as important as knowing the content tested on the ACT is knowing how to take the test. Your ACT study skills and organization tutor may give you a pre-test to see how well you do in each of the subjects so that you can spend proportional amounts of time studying for each one. There's no need to take weeks to study math if you score 100% on a practice test, whereas you might want to take extra days to study reading if you begin with a lower score.
