I am currently teaching AP Computer Science to high school students. My students have passed their AP tests with 5 point scores in 2015- 2016. I have been teaching for many years. I teach Math Abacus to k through 7th grade students at a learning center. I love to see my students succeed in their grades. I try to customize my teaching approach for different grade levels. It is a learning experience for me whenever I teach to my students. Usually I explore the concepts for a decent number of times until the students are comfortable doing the lessons independently. The peer pressure and a fierce competitive environment are the factors that sometimes kids cannot learn a subject in a given time period in school. I am flexible in my teaching and can make changes accordingly to promote a unique learning experience.Before I worked in the field of Software Engineering, I used to teach at an elementary school and at a college in India and so I think I have some idea about how different teaching styles can be an effective tool for kids with different potentials. In my experience, learning math and science can be sometimes overwhelming for some kids but working on one concept at a time would make the transition much easier.

Although these constant inquiries drove my parents crazy, they ultimately led me to study the Sciences. I could not wait to study Science in high school and hurried home the first day to start reading my textbooks. But there was a problem. The textbooks were not exciting at all. They were also barely comprehensible. Science was taught in a language I did not initially understand. As your tutor, I can help translate the language of Science to one you can understand and master. I can also teach you useful study habits and techniques that will help you succeed in a competitive academic environment. Using real life examples, acronyms, and good study hygiene will make science classes easier than you ever imagined!I developed these study habits and techniques while earning my Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology from the University of Puget Sound (Seattle). I graduated summa cum laude and was awarded honors in my major. I am a certified tutor in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Psychology. I am a Senior at Middlebury College who specializes in Spanish tutoring and has a passion for teaching. I have studied Spanish all throughout high school and college and also lived in Madrid, Spain for a semester! After graduating, I immediately moved to New York City to attend Columbia Law School, where I will receive my JD in May, 2015. Throughout undergraduate, I regularly tutored economics, math, and statistics courses at the school's tutoring center, and helped several students to turn around their class performance. I also enjoy helping students prepare for standardized test, whether that be the SAT or the LSAT. Especially with regard to the SAT Math, I love helping students understand the various curveballs that CollegeBoard often throws, and assisting them in achieving better scores than they thought possible. I am also passionate about Texas Rangers baseball, and fill an inordinate amount of my free time with fantasy sports and statistical research on the sport.

I have independently tutored since age 16 for middle school and high school mathematics, including pre-algebra, algebra, and geometry. Most recently, I have worked as an Astronomy and Cosmology tutor for college students and have also done some virtual tutoring for second grade language arts and math. I am a tutor for both English and mathematics, although algebra is my favorite subject to tutor. I love to learn and am always striving to gain new knowledge or skills. When I first began to tutor at the request of a neighbor, I realized that I am also passionate about sharing my knowledge with others and helping them to see how fun it can be to gain deep understanding about a topic. I strive to develop a bond with each and every student I encounter and get to know how they best learn. When I'm not tutoring, I love to read, write, make art, and have recently been learning to code in Java.
