Taylor graduated with her PhD in linguistics in 2018. She is an expert in language/writing, ESL, and Spanish with experience working with students from age 5 and up.She has always had a passion for teaching, and she prides herself in researching and discovering new ways to reach each student who comes across her path.

I am a graduate of Georgetown University, where I studied Anthropology and Portuguese.I tutor world history and Spanish, both of which I enjoy doing. For me, history is like a story; and so, doing well on a history test means being able to remember every part of a story, and being able to elaborate on that story. Of course, the tricky part is being able to memorize all of the parts of several concurrent stories. When it comes to Spanish, I enjoy helping those who have difficulty understanding the language basics, which are critical in mastering it later on. As a heritage speaker, it is important for me to not only help students with their pronunciation, but also with their cultural competency skills.Outside of work, I enjoy running, traveling (which often includes a lot of running, whether it be on train platforms or to boarding gates), eating tacos, and swimming.

During my time at Syracuse University, I was given the opportunity to facilitate my own classroom discussion group for 1 semester. I was responsible for creating lesson plans and steering the conversation among the students. I have also had the opportunity to tutor a student to help improve her writing. These experiences have allowed me to understand how people learn and improve their skills; practice, practice, practice.I earned my Bachelor's Degree in English and Textual Studies. In my college years, I greatly improved various skills involving writing, research, reading comprehension, grammar, studying, and more. I put some of my skills to the test when I edited a blog, as well as contributed a couple of articles.

As a tutor, I remained accessible but maintained an appropriate distance to earn students' respect, and five out of ten students improved their scores by more than 200 points. Through these teaching experiences, I have learned not only to become a teacher from the students' perspective, but also what it takes to be an effective educational provider and a mentor.While taking six medical school courses throughout my graduate school program, I have been able to practice and enhance teaching methods by organizing study groups that regularly conducted review sessions before exams, highlighting important concepts made during the lectures, sharing concise notes and outlines, bringing up pertinent and innovative questions, and academically stimulating my peers without any unwelcoming pressures. I have taken several (IB, AP, and collegiate) courses in each and have received accolades for my high marks in all three disciplines. I have also taken a specialized course in Tutoring Theory during my undergraduate career, which was a rigorous semester-long workshop to train tutors for working in a walk-in tutoring center. The course was intense in its focus on all of the idiosyncrasies of formal tutoring - we even practiced ESL tutoring with students from Aichi, Japan. I have also served as a tutor in my university's library for both English and Philosophy. For art, I worked as a Teaching Assistant for Acting I, where the chair of the department has personally commended my work in the class. I worked as an accountant in Uzbekistan. All classes I took in the Russian language. I believe that I can share the Russian culture, tradition with my students. I then studied and worked in Germany for a year. In 2009, I came to the United State of America with the "Work and Travel" program. I was raised by the principles of believing in yourself if you want to achieve something. Believing in yourself is the key part of building relationships, making decisions, deciding who your friends are and where you want to be in life. After completing my Masters degree, I switched gears and moved to teaching at the elementary level, working as a full time co-teacher in 2nd, 4th, and 6th grades. After obtaining tenure and teaching for a number of years, I left the k-12 classroom to begin work on a doctoral degree in Special Education and Disability Studies at Syracuse University, which I am currently completing coursework towards. As a graduate student in this program, I have taught a number of undergraduate and graduate courses situated within the School of Education. Having taught across a variety of grade levels, both k-12 and collegiate, I tutor in a variety of areas. In particular, I have strong writing skills myself and am able to provide students with a great deal of support in written expression. As a tutor who was a former Special Education Teacher, my forte is in differentiating instruction to meet the needs of each learner and bring a variety of engaging teaching strategies to each tutoring session. In my spare time, I love to surround myself with nature, spending time in the woods with my two giant dogs.
