I'm a college student studying Biology at Emory University! l love tutoring children and plan on becoming a Biology professor in the future.

When I began teaching five years ago, I absolutely fell in love with the process of instructing and learning. This passion grew and has taken to me different parts of the world so that I may become an effective teacher/tutor.I received my undergraduate degree in illustration from Savannah College of Art and Design and am currently working on my master's degree in art history and visual culture from Lindenwood University. After, I will pursue my PhD in art history so that I may teach at a collegiate level.The subjects I offer are visual art and art history. My favorite to teach/tutor is art history because it's essentially story telling and puzzle solving! I believe teaching and tutoring these subjects should be a fun conversation--a way to swap ideas and stories that make the learning process a lot more relaxed rather than being a one way street of a teacher just talking at you instead of with you. I love teaching and strongly believe education enriches our lives in more ways than one, a concept that I try to pass on to all of my students!

Non-commissioned officer in charge of both EMT and Paramedic programs at the Joint Special Operations Medical Training Center. I run 7 classes a year for EMT and NRP. This experience has allowed me to see what students struggle with and allows me to help them pass their test. I have worked EMS at a paramedic level. I have an associates degree in emergency medical services and a bachelor's in health science.

I received two Bachelor's degrees from East Carolina University: one in English and the other in Political Science. I received a certificate in Technical and Professional Communication. I also attended ECU for graduate school; I received a Master of Arts in English with a concentration in both creative and technical writing. When I wasn't writing poetry and nonfiction essays, I was concentrating on technical editing and grammar. While I graduate school, I had the opportunity to tutor student-athletes in English courses including literature and composition. I have taught and supported students in various English-related subjects to include but not limited to: composition, creative writing, business writing, technical writing, research and citing, oral presentations, social media, and graphic design, etc.My teaching experience has spanned across two-year community colleges and four-year HBCUs. I have taught in a higher education setting for nearly 10 years. From traditional students to veterans, I have experience teaching and supporting a vast array of students with a vast array of backgrounds. I feel strongly about teaching each student where they are respectively and individually. I am very keen on researching and citing, as I worked in university libraries for many years. I am guided by a learner-centered approach. I think it is important to meet students' needs and develop their interests and values. I believe that learning is an individual process of making sense of a student's experiences and beliefs. My approach to teaching is to organize my courses into a series of key topics and spend time preparing clear lectures on each, as well as fostering engagement through discussions. I tend to guide students to think as professionals, as opposed to beginners.

I began tutoring through a volunteer music lessons program in college, and have since instructed students in a variety of subjects, including writing and psychology. I love to help students improve academically through a cooperative teaching style. My favorite memories of tutoring include learning that one of my students received her first ever "A" on a paper that I helped her write, and when a junior high clarinet student earned first chair after a playing test. With every student, I aim to discover and use how he or she learns best in order to teach most effectively. By presenting information in a way that is simple and relatable, I hope to help students not just memorize, but really understand the subject. Additionally, I try to teach students the skills that they need to solve problems independently. I am passionate about helping students to improve in all academic areas.

I am a native of Jamaica and a graduate of Kean University located in Union, New Jersey.My life was truly impacted by a teacher who was a great influencer and the most adorable teacher. Through her professionalism ,knowledge, and caring attitude I excelled in literature and language arts .Today, I am currently a Secondary Education Literary and Language Arts teacher. My pledge was to emulate my mentor and pass on what she passed on to me a love for learning and patience to help others .

I currently work part-time as a swim instructor for students of all ages, whether they're completely new to the water or they're looking to further hone their skills on a competitive level. I have found a passion for working with various types of people and seeing what works best with them. Through this job, I found that part of my teaching philosophy is having my students create a long-term goal(s) for themselves. That long-term goal allows me to view the steps needed to get to that point and create some short-term goals that will aid in them achieving their overall goal. I recognize and understand that students are all different in terms of how they perceive information, so my goal for myself is to adapt to the needs of my own students to see what works best for them.I studied at Duke University, where I majored in Biology and minored in Chemistry and History. I was recruited to swim for the Varsity Swim and Dive team at Duke, where I swam distance freestyle and butterfly. As an undergrad, I was pre-med and spent the remainder of my free time volunteering through various programs at the school.Two programs impacted me the most during my time as a student - the CAPE and ACE programs. Through the Collegiate Athlete Premedical Experience (CAPE) program, I was able to volunteer at the Brain Tumor Center of the Duke Hospital. There, we collaborated with doctors, PAs, and nurses to aid in the livelihood and well-being of recurring/newly diagnosed glioblastoma patients. We gained firsthand experience working with patients of various backgrounds while obtaining the history of and performing the neural exam on patients. The other program that deeply impacted me was the Student-Athlete Civic Engagement (ACE) Program. During that program, 5 student-athletes from Duke and 5 from Stanford went to one of 4 places to ethically volunteer/run sports camps. I was selected from a pool of applicants to go to rural Cusco, Peru, where we built a greenhouse, renovated a tree nursery, and paved a trail to a viewpoint to promote environmental conservation and rural tourism in Cusco. Under the guidance of the rural Peruvian community, I was able to both utilize the Spanish I knew and learn conversational Spanish and a little bit of Quechua, the local language. After returning from Peru, I applied and was accepted to be an Ambassador for the ACE program at Duke.My strong suits for teaching include Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Spanish, and Math through Calculus.

I am a licensed medical speech-pathologist in a skilled nursing facility with my CCCs! I specialize in tutoring for language, study skills, organization skills, courses for undergraduate and graduate students for speech therapy students, the Praxis 5331 for speech pathology graduate students.

I am a graduate of College of the Ozarks. I received my Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness. I spent many semesters as an online student , so I understand the difference it is from in-person learning. I have experience tutoring a wide range of subjects, but I am most passionate about sustainable agriculture, biology, and business. I love creating that lightbulb moment for my students and teaching them how to be great test takers in their classes. I can help students with test prep and learning the best study strategies for their learning style. I am a firm believer in knowledge is power and education is the key to success. In my time off I love reading, gardening, playing any sport, and hiking with my beagle puppy.

No more flat tires on the same old bad habits or missing information.For me, the best part of tutoring is watching a student realize he or she is not limited to the difficulties of a subject or skill. I love the moment when a student says "I guess I could be a math person!" Or, "I dropped the word 'loquacious' in conversation, you should have seen their faces!"Too often, we define our capabilities in such harsh and rigid ways. If we don't understand math as quickly as our peers, we aren't good at math. If diagramming parts of speech doesn't make sense the first time, that must be the only way to learn it, and we're out of luck. If we get so nervous for tests that our minds go blank, we resign ourselves to grades that reflect nerves instead of knowledge.No! Albert Einstein didn't begin speaking till he was four years old - what if he believed that defined his future?With a creative approach, individually adapted explanations and examples, and cheerful tenacity, I work diligently with each student to overcome learning gaps, build confidence, and reach academic goals of all varieties.
