Essay Editing Tutoring review by Virginia in Maywood, IL
The student is doing wonderfully! I noticed she was able to focus on the task at hand for a longer period of time! She "read" half of her sight word flashcards and two of the beginning reader books from the "Purple Set"! She loves to have a book or two read to her and enjoyed "Honey Bunny Funnybunny" so much she wanted to take it home. She also found two books to read by Emma J. Virzan, whose main character is a pig in a wig! She has a great sense of humor and is a pleasure to tutor!

The student is just great. We are going to continue to junk unfamiliar words as if we are reading while using syllabication. Some days he's extremely confident in reading unfamiliar words and on other days he's insecure. My goal for him is to be confident no matter what he's reading and understand it's alright to come across an unfamiliar word and pronounce it incorrectly. I told him that as long as he continues to sound out the words and chunk them he will eventually get the right sound of the word.

The student is making fantastic progress. In this session, we had extended practice with encoding and decoding short "i" word families. He was able to generate at least 3 words for each words family. Additionally, he was able to write a dictated word for each word family. We reviewed high frequency words in his phonics workbook. Finally, he successfully wrote dictated sentences comprised of words from the short "i" word families and the high frequency words we reviewed.

The student is making fantastic progress. We continue to focus the conversation on the past tense so that the conjugations become more automatic. She is listening to television news without subtitles and reading (and then talking about) articles she's read online. I will begin to focus on the difference between "to make" and "to do" which, in Spanish, is the same word.

The student is making great progress in learning the word families. We just finished the letter "E" word family. For today's session, we focused on the letter "I" word family. The student's attitude about learning is great. She is always eager and ready to learn. This make the learning process much easier. Side note: Spoke to the student on purchasing some additional materials to read. These reading materials will allow her to develop her reading fluency and she will have the chance to practice reading the learned word families.

The student is making great progress. He has mastered many of the new 2nd grade sight words and we continue to add new words to the pile while reviewing the 1st grade words. He is also beginning to read CVCe words by practicing the magic "e" rule. In math, we worked on double-digit addition and place value in tens and ones. We are continuing to practice writing 3-5 word sentences and reading at Level D and E books.
