Samantha: Western Springs tutor

Certified Tutor

As a current master's student in Applied Physiology at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs and a gross anatomy lab instructor, I bring a robust academic background and a passion for education. My journey through undergraduate and graduate studies has been fueled by my curiosity for the sciences and my commitment to fostering student success.

With a B.A. in Chemistry and a minor in Environmental Studies from Colorado College, I developed a strong foundation in interdisciplinary learning, earning Dean's List honors and maintaining a 3.8 GPA. During this time, I also conducted advanced research in molecularly imprinted polymers for PFAS detection and worked on the physiological impacts of cold and hypoxia upon the cardiovascular system during exercise. These experiences sharpened my analytical and problem-solving skills while igniting my desire to share knowledge with others.

As a gross anatomy lab instructor, I teach over 50 students per semester, guiding them through the complexities of human anatomy. I excel at breaking down intricate concepts into manageable lessons, tailoring my approach to different learning styles, and fostering an environment where curiosity thrives. Next semester, I will extend my teaching responsibilities to physiology, further enhancing my ability to communicate complex scientific principles. I intend on applying to medical school in Spring 2025 to pursue a future career as a cardiologist.

Beyond academics, my work as a tutor with Varsity Tutors since 2022 has allowed me to support students across various disciplines, from SAT prep to advanced calculus. I emphasize creating a supportive and personalized learning experience, helping students not only master content but also build confidence and manage academic stress.

My diverse experiencesas a researcher, educator, and search and rescue volunteerhave taught me the importance of adaptability, empathy, and collaboration. I am eager to continue making a positive impact through Varsity Tutors by empowering students to reach their academic potential. My goal is to inspire confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning in every student I work with.
