Graduate Test Prep Tutoring review by Monica in Minneapolis, MN
We reviewed general SAT math strategies that we had discussed before and then went over new strategies arithmetic and algebra problems. The student did very well and generally knows how to do most of the problems. For some of the problems, she could figure it out, but it took a little while so we went over some shortcuts and ways to cut down on time.

The student and I continued working on his review sheets for his midterm next week.  He had a little trouble with definite and indefinite articles, so we will work on that more during our next session (which is tomorrow, at 11am).  We worked on connecting verbs and nouns and finding patterns, preparing him to do his best to understand the definitions and conjugations of words he may see for the first time on the test.

Graduate Test Prep Tutoring review by Sarah in Minneapolis, MN
We started the session going over some reading homework for school.  We then focused the majority of today's session on exam preparation.  We did drill worksheets for different techniques that can be used for different reading comprehension questions.  We reviewed how to be an active reader and worked on circling key words, transition words, and main ideas in passages.  We did a worksheet on how to infer definitions of words based on context clues in order to appropriately answer vocabulary within the passage questions.  In math, we learned how to approach "weird" types of math questions involving visual techniques.  In the next few weeks, I will try to identify more math topics that the student may have become rusty on and do questions involving those topics.

In the first session, we covered Chapt 1 (Structural levels of organization) and Chapt 3 (Cells). This includes anatomical positions/directions, planes of the body, body cavities and regions, parts and composition of the cell, cell structures and functions, movement of substances through cell membranes, passive and active transport processes, cell division. Also went over some things in chapter 6 (The Skeletal System). I will make up study sheets for the upcoming exam and go over more of the skeletal system and muscular system when I come back tomorrow.

Graduate Test Prep Tutoring review by Kimika in Minneapolis, MN
The student and I worked on her review for her test involving dividing polynomials using long division and synthetic division and identifying factors of polynomials. She was comfortable with the material and went through the work with few questions. I answered them as they came up and we were able to complete the review.
