Hi there! I have over 4 years of experience teaching and tutoring students from ages 5 to 65. My areas of expertise include elementary school reading and math, K-12 science, ACT, SAT, and IB test prep, and MCAT prep, especially reading and biology sections.After graduating from the University of Minnesota in 2009 with a B.A. in Theatre and minor in Public Health, I taught English to K-6 students in Seoul, South Korea for two years. I served for a summer as an AmeriCorps Summer Reads VISTA, tutoring K-3 students in elementary literacy. I've also taught ESL to adult immigrants in Minneapolis for three summers, and am ESL certified through the Minnesota Literacy Council.I'm currently applying to medical school, and enjoy spending time with family and friends.

I graduated from North Dakota State University with a degree in statistics and double minor in mathematics and computer science. I have seven years of experience tutoring students in middle school, high school, and college. My goal is to help students develop their math abilities by strengthening their problem-solving skills and improving their study habits. I aim to accomplish this goal by assisting students to break down academic concepts into understandable pieces. My tutoring style encourages students to solidify new concepts by checking over their work. When students are able to catch mistakes, they are less likely to make them again in the future. The reflective nature of my tutoring style regards mistakes as an opportunity for growth.

Recent Yale graduate with a simultaneous B.S./M.S. in Mathematics. I have been coaching and tutoring students for years. Throughout high school I volunteered as a Mathcounts coach at my local middle school. I also worked as a counselor at the Ross Mathematics Program. I love math and science and hope to inspire the same in my students regardless of their level.

I recently graduated from the University of Minnesota with degrees in chemical engineering and chemistry. During my schooling I was routinely asked to break down big problems, identify the key parts, and then solve them. This same thinking has made me a successful teacher in areas much broader then math and science. By breaking down a problem and identifying key points I believe I can lead any student to academic success.I discovered my love of teaching during my senior year of college. Now I hope that I can take what I am good at (math and science) and what I'm passionate about (teaching others) to empower students to achieve their goals.

I am a sophomore at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities studying Political Science and Spanish. Previously, I attended St. Francis High School and Anoka Ramsey Community College as a PSEO student. Some of my experience working with students I have gained through tutoring at Ramsey Middle School in Minneapolis. I tutor 6th and 8th grade math students with Algebra and Pre-Algebra. This experience is actually what led me to become interested in working as a tutor for Varsity Tutors. The subjects I am most interested in tutoring are math, Spanish, and ACT prep.Education has always been important to me, and I love sharing it with others. I love seeing that others are passionate about a particular topic, even if it isn’t something I’m necessarily interested in. I would describe my tutoring style as laid back, but goal-oriented. I am incredibly understanding and patient, but also very driven to help others accomplish their goals. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, traveling, reading, and playing/watching hockey.

I finished my PhD at Arizona State last year, and moved to Minneapolis to co-found a biomedical engineering startup. Before Arizona, I received a BS in electrical engineering at the University of Virginia.Over the past five years I've taught quite a few lab courses, mostly in electronics for biomedical students. I enjoy helping to guide students to a better understanding, so they can explain a concept in their own words (not just in my words). I like to draw out visual explanations whenever possible, for math and science concepts. I've been excited about all kinds of science for pretty much all my life, and I hope I can convey some of this excitement!Outside of academia, I'm into climbing and good board games.

I first started using tutoring when I started college at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. As a student athlete, we receive free tutors so I have taken full advantage of them and they have been very helpful throughout my education. Through these experiences I've started to have a desire to pay it forward and help tutor other individuals. I have learned to think about ways of learning and various topics in so many different ways and am very excited to help share this information.Outside of tutoring, I enjoy participating in sports and spending time outside. I love going out on the lake with my family and friends and spending time skiing or hiking and many other activities.
