Certified Tutor

I am an educator and mentor that assist middle school, high school and college students to develop persistent and flexible problem solving skills with a growth mindset.
I am proud graduate of the Yonkers Public School district. Pursuing my Bachelors Degree in Applied Mathematics at the City College of New York. In 2013 I ventured into the world of teaching through a collaboration with my mathematics teacher to help failing kids pass their algebra regents which they needed to graduate.
Through collaborative planning and designing of problem-driven mathematics lessons, I strive to develop a culture of inquiry that promotes student persistence and flexible thinking in problem solving. This approach has led to a 64% passing rate of my summer school algebra, Algebra 2 and trigonometry students who failed the regents exams in the June with a 65 and below. And Encouraged 40% of students to achieve mastery level(85 and better) on their algebra, geometry and trigonometry regents when they were originally aiming for just a "passing grade".
I continuously instill a growth mindset in my students which is reflective of my belief that every child, regardless of socioeconomic status, can excel at learning when given the opportunity to do so. I always seek to create opportunities for success in mathematics.
My measures extend beyond the classroom as a mentor at Lifting Up Westchester. There, I teach and support at-risk students, encouraging them to aspire beyond secondary education. Any students of mine will tell you that they learn so much more than mathematics in my classroom or tutoring sessions. I am an educator that fervently advocates using critical-thinking skills and real-world applications to make the content relevant in a student's life while developing and fostering effective relationships.
