I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

Certified Tutor

I am a recent graduate from Vassar College where I received a Bachelor of Arts in Biology with a Mathematics correlate. I am continuing my education at Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, where I will soon graduate as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. I have positioned myself so that for the rest of my life I can pursue my undeniable thirst for knowledge, while interacting with humans and animals alike, in hopes of leaving a positive mark on the world.

I recognize that learning is not as simple as absorbing information. Personally, I think understanding the way something works is more important than memorizing an answer. I know first hand that everyone learns differently, and it is nearly impossible to learn in a meaningful way if one cannot relate to the material. Understanding the way a student learns, and tailoring my teaching method to the student's strengths is a unique and motivating challenge that makes me an effective tutor. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, my favorite ones to tutor are math and science, especially as seen on the GRE, ACT, and SAT.

I am professional, patient, understanding, a strong communicator, and nothing fascinates me more than the way people think. Additionally, I am no stranger to standardized tests, college applications, grueling coursework, or the precarious work-life balancing act. In my down time I love to swim, hike with my dogs, read, cook, surf, and travel. I look forward to working with many of you this summer.
