Certified Tutor

I am a 2009 graduate of Oberlin College, originally from Santa Cruz, CA and new to Seattle! I received a double major in English and Comparative American Studies, and graduated with high honors. My academic background is in literature, composition, and the social sciences, and I have been involved in teaching and tutoring for 5 years.

While I tutor a variety of subjects, my favorite is writing and composition. Throughout college I worked as a course assistant and writing tutor to college freshman, helping to bring students with a wide variety of educational backgrounds up to college level. I love helping students learn to craft an argument, chose their thesis and points, and build a structured, polished essay. I believe all students bring a unique and important perspective to their writing, and my job is helping them find their voice.

In my free time, I work as an audio engineer, help out with gardening and cooking at my co-op house, and read widely and enthusiastically.
