I graduated in 2020 with an Economics degree from Middlebury College, a liberal arts campus in Vermont. In my path to college, I successfully studied for and passed a variety of AP and SAT exams. While completing my major and additional coursework in college, I have strengthened my academic writing, reading, research, and quantitative reasoning skills, picking up R, STATA, and ArcGIS along the way.I strongly believe that every student learns differently and that they should be able to seek the help they need to take full advantage of their learning opportunities. If I can help a student master a subject, pass an exam, discover their talent in a subject, or get into their dream school, I'd love to do it!

I graduated from St. John's College in Annapolis, MD with a degree in Liberal Arts. I studied mathematics, science, language and philosophy. My broad academic background helps me to be interdisciplinary and encourage students to make cross-connections between subjects. I enjoy helping students work through the logic behind problems so that with thorough practice, they develop the confidence to approach any problem.

I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and moved to Hong Kong in 2010. I majored in Economics and Psychology and minored in Math at the University of Pennsylvania. I'm currently a 7th Grade Science Teacher at Success Academy Charter Schools in New York City. I undertook a summer teaching residency, Summerbridge Hong Kong, where I designed and taught underprivileged Hong Kong middle school students, provided feedback on teachers' lesson plans, observed teachers' lessons and coached them, and worked in a team to run the entire program. I've wanted to become a teacher since I was 16, and I look forward to potentially tutoring you!

I am a dedicated and qualified undergraduate student with a strong passion for teaching Spanish.As an aspiring Spanish teacher, I have dedicated the past 10 years of my academic career to learning Spanish. Through past experiences with studying Spanish as well as current college-level coursework, I have developed a strong ability to understand different aspects of Spanish language and culture. In addition, during my junior year, I spent five months studying abroad in Spain through which I was able to confidently converse with locals as well as take 300-level Spanish courses.I have had previous experience teaching Spanish as a teachers assistant at a few public schools in Seattle. I worked with middle school and high school students in classroom settings, which allowed me to be coached and observed by different instructors, develop professionally, and better understand teaching a wide range of ages.I believe that good teachers are built out of their experience. Therefore, I highly value opportunities through which I can teach others as well as practice my Spanish.

I have been a teacher for over 20 years and enjoy using hands on experiences to teach students to be successful. I believe that creating songs, chants or using other fun methods help students remember concepts short and long term. My goals are to use the strengths of the students to make them understand the material, I do not believe in memorizing anything. My strengths are in Language Arts, Reading, Writing and SAT PREP. Using motions and movement also helps kids remember difficult concepts. During our tutoring sessions, we will have fun by learning and use repetition to remember and never forget. I enjoy running, traveling, cooking and am very energetic. I have tutored kids of all ages and know I can make a difference in their life. I have two teenage boys who are very active and I love watching them at baseball games and tennis matches.

In the time between those two degrees and afterward, I've worked for Fortune 50 companies as a systems engineer, medical billing director, project manager, and consultant in roles of leadership.My non-work time is spent serving in various volunteer positions, including teaching ESL, to contribute to the diversity and health of my community. Traveling over the world has fueled my interest in languages, culture, history, and even geography. All of these subjects show who we are and who we could be with focus and cooperation.My teaching approach is to create learning materials that meet the individual needs of my students while sharing my insight as a business person and a second language learner. I am considered a patient, approachable, and fun instructor. As I move into this encore career, I'm excited about the adventures in learning I'll have with Varsity students.
