We covered quadratic functions specifically finding the focus and the directrix, we also covered rational root theorem and Descartes rule of signs, and also polynomial long division. He had a positive attitude. I showed him what terms to look for when going through a long division problems. I left him with extra long division problems.

Today we covered box and whisker plots. We went through the meaning of each part of the graph and answered conceptual questions on them. The student has a science test tomorrow, so we studied genetics and natural selection. She was able to answered questions and could define her vocabulary terms. We also worked on an assignment about selective breeding and wrote a paragraph about it. She had a positive attitude throughout the session and could answer her science questions well by the end.

The student worked on word problems from the homework packet. This required forming equations with multiple variables that were given in the problem, and then solving them.

The student and I went over word problems involving multiplying and dividing fractions. The word problems are what tricked her at first because she wasn't able to determine which operation to apply when solving. After some explanations, clarifications and helping her find clue words, she was able to determine when to use multiplication and when to use division. I liked that she was able to pick up on her mistakes when going over an old exam because that indicated that she was grasping the concept. Towards the ending of our session, I gave her some practice problems of my own similar to those on her worksheet to test her understanding of what we had previously learned and she did wonderfully. I was able to help her figure out clue words that'll help her with word problems.

The student has showed an improvement in his studies. He received an 80 on his most recent exam. On Wednesday, we went through a study packet for his exam. We reviewed questions pertaining to factoring and simplifying quadratic equations, and questions using graphs and data sets.

We covered biology and cell organelles and their functions. We covered structure and function with regards to animal and plant cells.
