We discussed the student's paper that is due on 1/6 covering the attitudes towards merchants and the trade industry from the perspectives of Islam and Christianity. We worked together to compare and contrast the differing attitudes of both religions concerning merchants from the religions' origins up until around 1500.

The student and I explored the internet as a possible source of enrichment and preparation for her upcoming math assessment. The student enjoyed the many options for games and exploratory learning. We discussed her reasoning for many of the problems or tasks. We experimented with each of us using a site and keeping audio, and then sharing. After the student and I completed our session, we discussed strategy and preparation for her district assessment.

We again discussed practice problems from the student's online account and interface, this time covering topics that included graphing functions according to their roots and asymptotes, finding complex roots of polynomials, and finding inverses of functions in one-to-one correspondence. I stressed the rules of inverse functions, so as to help her solve equations involving logarithms and exponentiation, which seemed to help with her grasp of the problems at hand.

The student and I met and had a good day. We started by doing some daily edit, which he does well in. We finished and then we worked on some reading and answering questions. He was successful with his reading and answering. We finished the day with a bit of writing. We discussed some of the things that may happen when he returns to school on Tuesday. Overall a good day.

The student worked on preparing for his Spanish test tomorrow. Initially, he still had problems with his past tense and dictation. After much practice and the use of a Spanish learning website, he felt more confident.

This was our final session. We found some time to review concepts from probability and combinatorics, but we focused mainly on going through practice tests, paying special attention to problems that seemed difficult. We also went over a few test taking strategies.
