Recent Sarpy County Tutoring Session Notes
We briefly covered the functions we have been studying for the past few months. Although the student still shows some dislike of division problems, I have seen a huge jump in her speed solving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and even simple division problems. We will continue to do some work with these, but I think we are ready to move on to other information. I am very happy with the progress that the student has shown, and the step now will be to maintain her achievement and continue to gain confidence. We also worked on some algebra problems just so I could asses where she is at in the year. We will continue working on these next week and on techniques for simplifying fractions.

The student finished the short answer questions on the practice final. We plan on continuing to do practice problems to shore up areas of challenge.

We reviewed multiple sections of past material. The student already had a general understanding of most main concepts but had some questions on specific applications. We went over each example in detail until he had a concrete understanding and then we went over practice problems to apply what we reviewed. We then reviewed all of his graded work to make sure he remembered all the techniques used to obtain his answers. He finished the session feeling ready and confident about the test. He takes his test today (Monday).

The student and I reviewed his physics homework, which consisted of 13 questions relating the speed of a wave to its wavelength and frequency. We used unit analysis to derive the relationship between the three variables. Once we had the relationship, the student used it to solve each of the problems.

The student and I reviewed his data he collected for his project from over the weekend. The goal was to measure the pH levels of various household items. We then tabulated all the data and transferred it into the proper format that the project requires.
