I feel in today's world that schools overcomplicate certain subjects, my goal is to help students learn simple and effective strategies to help solve problems. I gained my Microsoft Excel 2016 certification in 2020 and am ready to help teach others .

I graduated from University of Illinois at Chicago with a M.Ed. in Instructional Leadership in Elementary Education, with middle school Social Studies and Science endorsements. I also received a B.A in history at Loyola University Chicago. Apart from whole and small-group instruction, I have also tutored students individually at school, as well as adults in ESL instruction. I tutor all the main subjects up to 8th grade, as well as high school history. I am also bilingual in Arabic and can tutor in the subject for those interested. History has always been my favorite subject, for I'm treated to an engaging story in every class. I believe in a constructivist approach to learning, and will act as a guide for the student to learn, explore and wonder. Lecturing does not engage the student in learning, and will hinder their progress, so I make it a point to provide discussion-based instruction, where the student has an active role in his/her own learning. I have an eclectic taste in music, enjoy reading and swimming, and will never say no to a friendly board game or a game of touch football.

I am an undergraduate student at Yale University. I am working towards a Bachelor of Science in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology along with a certificate of advanced language in Spanish. I currently do research studying changes in stem cells and gene expression during different planarian physiological processes. I am extremely interested in biochemical and biophysical processes, closely tied to my interest in STEM courses and education. I have the most experience tutoring math, science, and Spanish, using my personal and current education with feedback from previous students to refine my approach. In high school I started a student success center during covid to provide free online tutoring, providing tutors in all subjects during set hours of the week. I work hard to create a comfortable environment to reduce the stresses and pressures of tutoring, not only allowing me to enhance my student's education but do so in a way that is most suited to their learning styles. I have gone through the college application process recently and would love to share my knowledge of standardized testing (study tips, general questions, and subject-specific tutoring), college preparation, and the application process. Outside of the classroom, I dance for Sabrosura (Yale's Premier Latin Dance team), explore what borders campus on walks and hikes, and love trying new foods and experiences.

I have 6 years of K-12 teaching experience, as well as tutoring experience, and I am currently a college professor of Anatomy and Physiology. I have worked as a tutor for my own students, privately and with Sylvan Learning Centers. I am very familiar with the STAAR and TAKS learning objectives and have worked with at-risk students, gifted and talented, special ed, and English Language Learners in Science and Spanish for grades 3-5, 6-8, and 9-11. I tutor Earth Science, Spanish (all levels), Life Sciences, PSAT, SAT, Anatomy and Physiology, Biology and Study Skills. For my undergraduate work, I attended Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri, where I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a minor in Spanish. While at Rockhurst, I worked as a tutor at the university's Learning Center, where I tutored students in a variety of science subjects, including Biology, Organic Chemistry, Physics, Chemistry and Microbiology. Though I have tutored several subjects, my favorite is Biology, because I consider it fascinating and very useful. I believe that approaching one's subject material with the correct attitude is key, and that hard work and determination are conducive to success in academics. Outside of academia, I enjoy exercising and playing volleyball, as well as reading and spending time with friends.

I am bilingual in the Spanish language as well and have been tutoring students from elementary school up to college for over 8 years. As a professional tutor, my goal is to make sure that a student learns to study and learn the smart way. To do so take the following steps: Assessing, Reinforcing, and Applying. Since no student is completely unfamiliar to the subject he is struggling with, I go ahead and assess the depth of his knowledge of that subject. From that assessment, I address what needs to be reinforced, sort of like putting pieces of a puzzle together. All this using the already known Visual, Auditory, and Kinesthetic (VAK) learning styles.
