I've been a Mathematics teacher for the past nine years, helping students overcome their difficulties with Mathematics and Statistics.Mathematics is elegant, powerful, and often surprising. As an instructor and tutor, I make it a priority to share these perceptions and create enthusiasm for mathematics. At the same time, it is of the utmost importance that my students actually learn the material that is covered in their class. This means that students should both gain a conceptual understanding of the subject matter as well as learn how to actually do the mathematics involved.My philosophy is based on the idea above: to help you understand how math works, making you able to do any problem yourself! I believe that you can always do better in math, no matter what level you're in, and I help make that happen by asking the right questions and working through important problems with you.Through my teaching experiences, I've helped students from pre-school through college levels and beyond! That includes the following subjects: Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Arithmetic, Elementary Math, Middle School Math, College Algebra, and Statistics. I've helped students in many different settings, including an after-school enrichment program. I've also helped undergraduate college students with all of these subjects, which includes adults returning to school during their careers, as a University of Phoenix mathematics instructor.A little personal information: I like music, reading, watching movies, and traveling. I obtained my undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from Hampton University. I am currently a Research Technician at Emory University. Using my expertise as a Research Technician to explain how chemistry works conceptually and in theory makes me a well rounded tutor in this subject area. My goal as a tutor is to provide expertise, experience and encouragement to each student. Some of the golden strategies that I have incorporated when tutoring are establishing expectations with the learner and discovering the strengths and weaknesses of the learner. I believe these strategies are key to being a successful tutor.

I will attain a BBA in Business Economics this May 2016 from the University of Memphis. Education and community are passions of mine, and I strive to reignite a curiosity for knowledge in my students and peers. Notable positions I have held include a Success Coach for Peer Powera community centered non-profit whose goal is improving childhood education through involvement between local grade schools, universities, and corporationsand interestingly enough, a ballroom dance instructor. My academic strengths are fairly broad, with expertise in mathematics and standardized testing.A couple fun facts about myself: I'm from New Jersey and of Italian decent, so I naturally love cooking and all things pizza. My favorite childhood book is The Giver by Lois Lowry, and favorite high school class was physics (rockets, easy winner). I enjoy playing guitar and ride my bicycle on a sunny day.

I am a Japanese native who now resides in the Midwest with my daughter and grandkids. I have over 50 years of experience speaking, reading and writing in Japanese.

I recently graduated from SUNY Albany with a B.S. in Human Biology. I have extensive experience tutoring students of all ages, from fourth grade up to and including my undergraduate peers in college. I excelled in all my classes, including biochemistry, organic chemistry, physics, chemistry, biology and physiology. I also completed a tutoring course which taught me different techniques, learning styles, and how keep the student engaged and interested in the session. I have learned how to work with each individual's learning style to maximize the student's understanding of the subject at hand.

I have always enjoyed learning and sharing what I have learned. I find that for me reading and then putting something into practice is most effective. In 2000 I began pursuit of a Masters in Computer Information along side of my full time work and family responsibilities and completed it in 2007. In 2008 I was fortunate to start teaching online at Indiana Wesleyan University and currently continue this rewarding work. I also teach in volunteer venues. All of this requires continual learning. I am working for income much less than in the past and tutoring is a way for me to continue learning and sharing how to learn and what I have learned. I am a husband, father, and grandfather and greatly enjoy those roles.

I am an Environmental Biology major and Writing minor. Using my two interests, I find it easiest to help students learn complicated topics by being able to explain them simply and in your own words. I find that this way of learning is the best way to gain a full understanding. Difficult problems often have multiple ways of solving them. Figuring out the best way for each student to solve a problem can make anyone successful. In the near future I plan on attending medical school, and I look forward to helping other students be able to succeed in subjects that I feel passionate about.

My daughter had me as her live-in educational therapist all her life and was diagnosed with a processing LD in middle school. She is a college sophomore now with a 3.87 GPA. I am a recent graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Since I first tutored about six years ago, it has always been a passion of mine. I enjoy making connections with students and helping them succeed. I believe that any student has the capacity for greatness; sometimes they simply require the right push.
