But if you work the problems enough times and never quit you'll get through it. And asking for help is never a bad thing, no one has ever gotten through all of this without help.

My experience in the field of education began while pursuing my undergrad degree at Northeastern University in Boston, where I tutored my peers in both Spanish and English. I continued to privately teach English while living in South America, and I teach private Spanish classes in my hometown of LA. My understanding and compassionate approach to tutoring provides a safe space for students to clarify and express their misunderstandings of the material, and I take great care to really understand and get to the root of the confusion or difficulty. I love seeing my students succeed, grow, and develop confidence within their ability to master these subjects.

I have a broad range of subjects that I am comfortable tutoring in, ranging from English and essay editing to Algebra and middle school math. I prefer to tutor math, and am comfortable from elementary math up to algebra II and geometry. Outside of the world of academia, I really enjoy being outdoors and being in nature. I have played sports my entire life so staying active is a big part of who I am. I love Star Wars, playing video games, and most things involving science fiction or fiction, including Harry Potter. That being said, working hard is what has gotten me to where I am today, and is always something I try to instill in the students that I work with. I believe in a balance of work and play, but when I'm with a student and we're working, we will work hard. I was born and raised in Long Beach, California and moved across the country to New Orleans to pursue my B.A. in English at Loyola University New Orleans. I taught high school English in that city for three years until I could no longer resist the pull of Southern California. Here, I continued to teach in private and charter schools for six years while I worked toward my teaching credential at Cal State Dominguez Hills.I firmly believe that all learning can be interesting, and I try to impart my enthusiasm to my students. It is important to help students relate content to their own lives and environments so that they learn on a deeper level and can apply their knowledge in the future. As an English teacher, I love tutoring writing skills, literature, and vocabulary development, but I also really enjoy tutoring Algebra and SAT math. My well-rounded background gives me an advantage in SAT preparation, and my easy-going personality makes tests less stressful.When I am not working, I am usually swing dancing! I also spend my time reading, crocheting, and taking selfies with my cat.
