How can a tutor help you master the ACT?

Similar to the SAT, the ACT is utilized nationally by universities and colleges to evaluate applicants. Generally, students take the exam for the first time during spring of their junior year. This gives them ample time to submit college applications or prepare to re-take the ACT during the fall of their senior year. In order to perform well on the ACT, proper preparation is crucial. If you are seeking ACT tutoring near Beaverton, OR, the educational directors at Varsity Tutors can help you connect with a tutor who could help your child work towards his or her academic goals.

The ACT measures students' proficiency in five core subjects: English, Mathematics, Reading, Science, and Writing. The Writing section is optional; in it students write in response to a question about their position on a particular issue. Students are given 2 hours and 55 minutes to complete the exam. With the Writing test included, they are given 3 hours and 25 minutes.

Next session, we will increase the difficulty of the math problems and look at science passages as well.

During the second hour, we went over strategies, covered several question types from the Science section, and discussed our schedule for the next two weeks. The student has a good attitude and shows an ability to grasp new concepts quickly. I could see an improvement in his performance by the end of our session.
