I've been working with students for over seven years, from middle school all the way through college, across subjects like math, calculus, statistics, linear algebra, chemistry, and physics, with a lot of SAT and ACT prep mixed in. My background is perhaps a little unconventional. I have two bachelor's degrees, one in Engineering and one in Communication Studies, plus a Master's in Design. That combination means I can guide you through challenging technical material and communicate it in a way that is easy to grasp. What I care most about is helping students get to a place where they don't need me anymore. I know that sounds like a strange thing for a tutor to say, but I think it's the right goal. I'm not here to walk you through steps to copy down. I want you to understand why something works, because that's what holds up under pressure, on a test you haven't seen before. I have graduated with scholarship honors in Chemical Engineering with a Bachelor of Sciences from University of Florida, Masters of Computer and Information Technology from UPenn, and a degree in Master of Business Administration from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. I have been a private tutor and also a Teaching Assistant for my four years of study at the University of Florida. I teach various subjects ranging from math and the sciences to test prep such as the ACT. My favorite subject to teach is Chemistry because of my overall background in the field. I enjoy working with students of all ages from grade school to college. It makes me really happy when a student is finally able to comprehend a subject they found difficult before. I am a graduate of Cornell University with a BS in Biological Sciences, where I started tutoring students one-on-one in calculus. Since then, I have also served multiple times as a teaching assistant, both at the undergraduate and graduate level. Currently as a MS student at the University of Illinois, I tutor online, mainly for high school and college students in math and science. Understanding beats memorization every time! Understand the "why" and "how" of the topic; don't just memorizing facts. This is especially important for FRQs, word problems, and more advanced topics that require analysis of the material, beyond simple regurgitation of lectures. I love imparting to them my own passion for the English language and its literary heritage, from Chaucer through our best 21st-century writers. I am particularly absorbed by the history of fiction, drama, and poetry in English, and I hope to continue to teach such love of the written word to curious students today.

I am passionate about the broad implications and applications of the Science, Math, and Engineering in our daily lives - and enjoy teaching them to my own kids. Towards this end, I also want to leverage my 20+ years in graduate and post-doctoral science/engineering research, past undergraduate level teaching/tutoring experience in physics, math, geophysics, and scientific computation, along with 10+ years of scientific programming & system administration experience towards STEM tutoring/mentoring at school to college level.

My academic credentials include a Bachelor of Mathematics degree from the University of Texas at Arlington and a Master of Aeronautical Engineering from Stanford University. I am retired from 40+ years of engineering. The last thirty years was working in the flight simulation industry. I had responsibility for doing mathematical modeling of many systems which kept my my math and science skills well exercised. The flight simulation experience also involved frequent use of computer languages such as Ada, C, C++ and less frequent use of other computer languages such as python and java. Tutoring was part of the engineering environment as new engineers were assigned to my group. I earned extra money during my college years tutoring. Though money is not the end objective since retirement, I enjoy tutoring to remain active and challenged. The interaction with students is invigorating. Tutoring gives me a sense of contributing to the well-being of others. It is offering up my skills to help others get a strong start on a career. My tutoring style is to explain principles and possibly do a sample problem, but then observe the student apply the principles to work a problem, gently nudging them in the right direction. I prefer to tutor math and physics, but will not shy away from computer languages and other science applications.

I hold a Master's degree from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and a Bachelor's degree from Johns Hopkins University. I tutored GED math for 3 years in college, so I have experience breaking down concepts for students with a variety of learning styles. I've also informally tutored other students in my math and science classes. My favorite part of working with students is seeing people's faces light up when they understand a tough concept. In my free time, I enjoy reading, walking, dancing, and listening to music.

I am an entrepreneurial travel-loving media professional living in New Orleans. I have a Master in Business Administration from Tulane University and I love teaching all sorts of subjects, especially math. In terms of hobbies, you can find me long-distance running, studying data science, exploring new restaurants and traveling the world.

I am a Molecular Engineering major at the University of Chicago, I am currently taking time off to focus on other aspects of my career but I don't want to stop tutoring outside college campus!.
