About Me

I'm a current classroom teacher who is truly passionate about helping kids achieve their educational goals. I know that for some kids, this can mean getting more academic support outside of the classroom which is why I am a huge proponent of tutoring services. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism and a Master of Education degree from the University of Florida. During my teacher preparation I worked as a tutor for a tutoring program for the University and also as the assessment coordinator. Additionally, I worked as a private tutor for Elementary and Middle school students in the areas of Math, Reading, Writing and Science. I am going into my seventh year as a tutor and my fifth year as a classroom teacher; and I am so excited to see the gains my students will make! As an educator and someone who considers herself to be a life-long learner, I understand that education is not a one-size-fits-all ordeal and that it requires me to really get to know the students that I work with, their interests and aspirations. I try to tap into those aspects of who they are and incorporate them into the work I do with them. Knowing these things about the students I work with really helps me to keep them engaged and motivated while also making a connection with them. Because I take the time to get to know who they are, they feel much more comfortable to have me join them on their educational journey and they know that they have another member on their team: someone who is there to not only tutor and teach them--but to cheer them on. I love to utilize real-life and engaging activities to help students practice, and I look forward to helping your child succeed!
