I am a graduate of Texas A&M University; I received a Bachelor of Science in Biology along with being a minor in Spanish. I also studied at Plano ISD in high school. As Plano ISD is recognized for its academic achievements and competitiveness, I have always been positively challenged by my curriculum and by my peers to improve and to push myself to excel. From a young age, I have always been a part of the Gifted and Talented program. Trying to challenge myself and wanting to be different, I took a risk and joined the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program, a program that was not as well recognized at the time and was extremely difficult. Joining the IB program was the best decision I have taken thus far. I gained knowledge from all around world- different insights, different histories, different philosophies, different literature, etc.

I am experienced in tutoring math, science, English, and the environmental sciences, but my favorite subjects to tutor are beginner's Chinese, reading and writing skills, and essay writing and revision. Over the years, I've seen that every student has an individual, personalized learning style, and I strongly believe it is important for tutors to match their teaching styles to the student. The qualities I'll bring into every session with my students are patience, commitment, and persistence, with an eye for a comprehensive mastery of all aspects to the material.
I am a prematriculant student at the University of Chicago. In high school I took advanced STEM courses at the University of North Texas through a high school program called the Texas Academy of Math and Science. I love taking high level math courses, but I get even more excited when I can help friends and classmates in courses I have already taken. I believe that having a solid understanding of math concepts builds you up for success in any field. I have experience as a teaching assistant in pre-calculus and calculus and have experience tutoring and assisting students in high school math, calculus, and differential equations. When preparing students for standardized tests like the ACT and SAT, I focus on filling any gaps in material and teaching new techniques for making the test easier and quicker to take. I have used and perfected these techniques while taking the ACT and SAT myself and have had success on both tests. I am also a National Merit Finalist.
I am extremely passionate about teaching, I find the position personally satisfying and beneficial to the students I work with. I am a great communicator and listener and have the ability to understand a student's needs. I love creating lesson plans, organizing workflow and interacting with the students. Education is a passion of mine and creating a safe, friendly and productive environment for my students to learn is a top priority. I've worked as a tutor for over 3 years across a range of subjects, especially Calculus and Chemistry, with my experience and set of skills I feel that I would be an excellent personal tutor for any student.
I am more than happy to share my knowledge with others who are struggling! Tutoring is a great way for me to spend my time helping others excel.
I'm a second-year student at Rice University majoring in Biochemistry and Cell Biology as well as in English. My unusual double major is a result of my inability to choose a favorite subject--I love literature and science! This love of learning translates naturally to my role as a tutor. Because I love learning, I look for ways to transmit my passions to others by teaching them. Another reason I enjoy tutoring lies in my own experience as a student. I had to work very hard for the grades it took to get to college, so I understand the problems of the struggling student, and I try my best to relate the methods I personally used to overcome those obstacles.
I am a graduate of the University of Texas at Dallas with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with Latin and University Honors. I am currently a graduate student pursuing my Master's degree in Electrical Engineering at UT Dallas again. I have over 2 years of experience tutoring college level Algebra, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, and Differential Equations for UT Dallas' Peer Tutoring Program, which is a drop-in one-on-one tutoring service offered by UT Dallas to all its students. I also have around a year's worth of experience tutoring privately for a variety of subjects including Algebra, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, SAT Math, and other standardized test math sections. I've always had excellent feedback about my tutoring services since I love forming connections with my students and make every tutoring session fun and educational at the same time. If you need an A in your math class or need to ace your SAT math section, look no further :)
I am currently an undergraduate student at New York University. As someone who plans to work in education one day, I am extremely passionate about teaching and helping my students succeed. I love creating lesson plans, organizing work flow, communicating with my students, and growing alongside them. I tutor a variety of subjects ranging from elementary math/english all the way up to college calculus. With that however, I am most passionate about tutoring SAT and helping with the college application process as I have only recently gone through the process itself and have experienced first hand just how stressful and confusing it can be. In my spare time I enjoy figure skating, reading, drinking a good cup of coffee, and playing the viola.
I am a Junior undergraduate student at Texas A&M University. I am currently in pursuit of a Computer Science Degree with a Mathematics Minor. Throughout high school and college, I have seen some peers struggle in concepts of Math due to a lack of foundational knowledge. Especially since I have been in the shoes of a high school student enrolled in higher-level math courses, I strongly believe that I have the knowledge and experience to help students grasp the important fundamentals that are required to gain a deeper understanding of Math. My biggest goal is to be able to pass on my knowledge to other students and to be able to take part in the success of other people.
I'm a huge Red Sox fan and love watching detective shows when I have free time.
I am proud to be a part of Varsity Tutors! I am originally from San Antonio, TX; I completed my undergraduate education at Rice University in Houston where I received a bachelor's degree in Biochemistry and Cell Biology. Currently, I am in my second year of medical school at Baylor College of Medicine.
I'm a writer and editor with a passion for learning that I love to share -- I've been told my tag line should be "let's find out!" I'm a native Austinite, but I lived in New York while I got my Bachelor's in Comparative Literature and minored in Linguistics. After I graduated I moved back home to Austin and got my Masters in Global Policy Studies at the LBJ School of Public Affairs at UT. Now I'm in Fort Worth, with an MBA I picked up along the way (also from UT Austin) -- apparently I can't stay out of school for long.
