About Me

I am a graduate of Nova Southeastern University where I received my Master of Science in Management and Administration of Educational Programs. I received my undergraduate degree from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in Speech Language Pathology. I have worked in education for twenty-plus years as a speech pathologist, exceptional education teacher, language arts teacher, assistant principal, dean, and district administrator. I have a passion for learning which is why I am currently working on my second Master of Science in Instructional Design. I enjoy learning and teaching. I have found the most joy in helping struggling students in small group learning because sometimes students just need a few more minutes or a few more examples for the spark to ignite. I've most enjoyed helping students find the main idea in passages and get beyond the "writer's block" to get an assignment complete. Since reading is cross-categorical, knowing how to read a word problem and pull out the key information in order to solve a problem is a must have skill. In my spare time, it is devoted to my family. My son keeps me busy with sports.
