About Me

Hey y'all. My name is Sonja, and I am currently a grad student in NC State's School of Education. I love education and working with folks of all ages to learn. I've been tutoring in some capacity for over 15 years. At first, I primarily taught swim lessons, and then, overtime, I branched out to a myriad of subjects from rock climbing to essay writing and test prep. These days I focus on literacy, organization/executive function skills, test prep, and writing. I have taught middle school social studies and high school environmental science. I currently work with middle school students in an afterschool program in Durham, NC.My current degree will focus in literacy. As such, I'm excited to work with y'all in any number of subjects, especially reading, writing, organizational skills, college prep, and test prep. I'm passionate about curiosity. I delight in questions and pursuing greater knowledge. I'm passionate about reading - and believe that reading well can open huge educational doors.
