About Me

I am a native speaker of Mandarin Chinese. I was born and raised in Taiwan, went to grad school at NYU for Foreign Language Education: Chinese and TESOL. I am a certified TESOL and Mandarin teacher in New York and am currently a middle school Mandarin teacher in Connecticut. I have many experiences in tutoring TESOL when I was back in Taiwan. I speak fluent English and beginner level of Korean. I believe in learning while having fun. While tutoring can be more teacher centered compared to a class environment, I try to incorporate different activities and practices so that YOU are the one learning and using the language. I also believe in learning from mistakes and risk taking. I create a safe environment so that you feel comfortable using the language even when you are unsure. I am friendly, fun, and encouraging. I speak both English and Mandarin fluently, so I can do full immersion if you'd like to, or more English if that's how you learn better. In short, I give customized classes.
