I was born and raised in the Willamette Valley in Oregon. I attended George Fox University for my undergraduate work. I earned my Bachelor's of Art in Writing/Literature and Religious Studies. I also had the wonderful opportunity to study abroad in Paraguay. After taking a year off to save up money, I returned to school at Western Oregon University, and I earned my Master's of Art in Teaching. Two days after receiving my diploma, I was offered a job to teach here in Arizona. I have always had a desire to learn and grow and I wish to inspire that desire in others. This is why I became a teacher. This is my third year teaching in the Vail School District and while there have been challenges, I have never had such a rewarding experience. When the light bulb moment happens with a student, it is the best feeling in the world. Throughout my experience as a Teacher, I have found that not all of students learn the same way, and that some take more time to grasp certain concepts. I know that this feeling can be discouraging for a student because I felt that way in certain subject areas. I strive to keep an open mind and positive attitude in all that I do. In my spare time, I try to catch up on my reading. I also enjoy a good Netflix marathon, especially when I have ice cream or pop corn available. If I am feeling extra energetic, you might find me on a run or a hike.
