I am a graduate of the University of Maryland University College (UMUC) where I received my Bachelor of Science in Management with a secondary major in English, and a Masters of Science in Management | Masters of Business Administration with a Public Relations focus. I am currently pursuing a Masters of Arts in Teaching with UMUC. I have attained my education while working as a Federal government employee with the United States Postal Service and the Department of Health and Human Services having recently retired from government service. During my federal career, I have volunteered with the DC public school system as a reading mentor in the Everybody Wins! program and served as a parent volunteer during my daughter's K-12 years. I am currently a volunteer teacher at the Academy of Hope in Washington, DC teaching 'Reading and Work Life Skills' to adult learners who are taking courses toward attaining their General Education Diploma. Through my volunteer activities and now through my studies in the Masters of Arts in Teaching program, I value the hard task that teachers must perform each day but the reward at the end of the day is watching and seeing how learning has a positive effect on students. 'Each one teach one' is a part of who I am and through teaching I am able to have a positive impact on the future of tomorrow's leaders. In my spare time, I love to read and watch TV mysteries, walking just for the sheer joy of being outdoors and spending time with family and friends.
