Who needs tutoring?
No obligation. Takes ~1 minute.

I'm a junior at MIT pursuing a B.S. in Computational Neuroscience, and a B.S. in Philosophy. Starting in high school, I have served in a multitude of teaching/tutoring roles, including: tutoring all levels of high school math (from pre-algebra to AP Calculus BC); teaching a six-week class on psychology to underserved high school students in the Boston area; teaching chemistry, biology, and computer science at a STEM summer camp to 6th-9th graders; working as a TA in a college-level philosophy seminar; and even teaching choreo for a hip-hop dance workshop series! And, though my teaching experience centers largely around STEM subjects, I also have a deep love for history, English, and philosophy, and am excited to work with students in these areas as well. In general, I have an intense passion for learning anything and everything, and my top goal when working with any student is to ignite their own curiosity, and awaken their inner desire to understand themselves and the world.

I am a driven, positive, affirming tutor who is happy to help students in any way he can. I graduated magna cum laude from Dartmouth College in 2020, and I obtained my Master's in Political Science from the University of Toronto in 2022. In 2016, I received an SAT score of 1550. That year, I also received a 5 on my AP exams in Calculus AB, English Language, U.S. History, and U.S. Government. I am happy to tutor students in mathematics, English, and social sciences (e.g., history, government). I especially enjoy tutoring pre-algebra and algebra. I believe in a practice-based approach in which I take students step-by-step through the concepts at hand. After practicing together with my guidance, the student will soon be able to apply what they have learned on their own.
I'm naturally smart. I'm not that guy that can just look at a problem on the board and just figure it out in seconds. I hate asking that guy for help because he doesn't know how to explain somethinghe just gets it right away. He's never sat down and broken it down. I never was that guy and I will never be that guy.
I'm home, I'm likely cooking or watching soccer. If I'm traveling for fun, it will likely be to Europe or South America.
I am a freshman Computer Science major enrolled in the McCormick School of Engineering at Northwestern University. I have a passion for teaching students, and I am experienced with having to give one-on-one guidance in teaching many concepts. Tutoring is very rewarding for me because I am driven to help others and give whatever knowledge I have gained over the years in every field. I also have experience dealing with situations in which students are not quickly or readily grasping concepts, and I have developed the patience to handle these situations. Teaching is just as rewarding for the student as it is for me, because I am thrilled when I see others achieve, and I would love to be part of the process. In addition to high school AP courses and test prep, I have taken college level multivariable calculus, linear algebra, physics electricity/magnetism and mechanics, computer programming (c++, matlab, LISP/Scheme), Dynamics of Systems, and Mechanics of Systems.
I am a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania where I studied history and political science. I have been tutoring for 7 years and love to help students do well. I have a particular love for government, American history, and trivia, but I have experience tutoring in a variety of subjects! SAT and AP tutoring is my specialty. Will debate the appropriateness of pineapple on pizza. I look forward to working with you!
I am Cassie Bishop, and for seven years, I have been dedicated to helping students of different age groups (from middle school to college) in mostly math and science. As someone driven to become a professor, I love to teach and have a great passion for sharing my knowledge with others! I am most passionate about math and hard sciences, such as biology, chemistry, and physics and have most experience tutoring middle school, high school, and college students. My mission is to develop students' problem-solving skills so that they can get to the answers on their own to not only improve their homework scores but also help on quizzes and tests through better knowledge of the material. I hope to be able to help you with all of your tutoring needs and to promote student success!
I am passionate about helping students because I've been a student my whole life! Even though I'm a professor now, I love to learn. And now that I have experience, I love to help others along the learning journey. I have degrees in English and education from Rice University, UT Austin, Texas State, and Texas A&M. I also studied abroad in England at the University of East Anglia and have traveled to many countries. I tutor English and Spanish (my family is from Mexico City). My favorite thing to tutor is writing, and I have taught writing from the Kindergarten-graduate school (Ph.D.) level (what I currently do). I am here to share tools and tips to help you succeed in your learning journey.
I'm trying to work on personal projects. I really enjoy snowboarding, and have been doing that since the third grade. I also enjoy playing sports and video games.
I am a patient teacher who can explain problems in many different ways according to how individual students learn best. I only ask that you know and explain to me what topics you do not know or get so far. I know that every student can learn a subject with a combination of practice and patience, but I insist upon consistent effort and sessions. As an educator I do not support last minute cramming as the primary learning method of content for students as it does not lead to retention of material, mastery of larger themes, or the ability to differentiate between subtle differences when problem-solving on tests and exams. I will help my clients when they need extra sessions before Final Exams and AP Exams, but those who have been working the hardest throughout the school year to regularly improve will get preference over those students who are panicked at the last minute, but have put off meeting with me.
I am a former math teacher who has a masters degree in math education. I have taught pre-algebra all the way to calculus! I have taught college math courses as well as PSAT/SAT prep courses, and teacher PRAXIS CORE boot camps. My goal is to ensure that you are successful in your career as a math student and future teacher! Hablo Espanol.
I'm a recent graduate of Dartmouth College. I studied government and studio art, with a focus on the political philosophy of Western society in modern colonies. I'm from Hilo, Hawai'i and I'm especially passionate about my home, land conservation, and the effects of indigenous lead political movements. Feel free to contact me if you'd like to learn more about college applications and political science! I teach of range of subjects from math, science, English, and social studies, as well personal finance and college test prep. I'm excited to meet new students and open doors to your future!

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, Varsity Tutors connects students in Pahrump with expert tutors across all grade levels and subjects. With 11 schools and nearly 5,000 students in the Pahrump area, we understand the local educational landscape and help students meet Nevada standards through personalized 1-on-1 instruction.
Pahrump schools have an average student-teacher ratio of about 34:1, which can make it challenging for teachers to provide individualized attention. Personalized tutoring fills that gap by giving students the focused, one-on-one instruction they need to master difficult concepts and keep pace with their peers.
Students in Pahrump most commonly seek help with math, English/language arts, and science—subjects where Nevada standards require strong foundational skills. We also work with students preparing for standardized tests, high school transitions, and advanced coursework. Tutors can address the specific gaps your student is facing, whether it's algebra, writing, or test prep.
The first session is about understanding your student's learning style, current challenges, and goals. A tutor will assess where your student stands academically, identify specific areas for improvement, and create a personalized plan. This foundation helps ensure every session that follows is focused and effective.
Tutors are familiar with Nevada's academic standards and curriculum expectations across grade levels. Whether your student needs to strengthen skills in reading, math, or science, personalized instruction helps them master the concepts required by Nevada schools and prepares them for assessments like state testing and high school readiness benchmarks.
Tutoring costs vary based on the subject, tutor expertise, and frequency of sessions. We work with families to create flexible tutoring plans that fit their budget and their student's needs. Contact us for a personalized quote and to discuss options that work for your family.
Tutoring can be scheduled around your student's school day, extracurricular activities, and family commitments. Whether your student needs sessions after school, on weekends, or during school breaks, Varsity Tutors works with you to find a consistent schedule that supports their learning.
Many students show noticeable progress within the first few weeks of consistent tutoring, though the timeline depends on the subject and the student's starting point. Regular, focused 1-on-1 instruction helps students build confidence and mastery faster than classroom learning alone, especially in subjects where they've fallen behind.
