I am a sophomore in college at McGill University and am studying Biology and Computer Science. I am passionate about science and would love to help kids who are struggling with it. I hope through tutoring I can help children find the love for learning that I have found. This is in the end the best motivation a child can have. I struggled a lot at the beginning of classes and know what it feels like when something doesn't click. I use this when I tutor and know to go slowly and diligently through everything. I have one year of professional experience in a tutoring center and have worked with children of all ages. I have training to teach anything from reading to Java programming. Tutors helped me through many classes and I would love to be able to do that for your child!

I am currently a fourth year medical student in Chicago. I attended the University of Notre Dame for undergrad, where I was a double major in Chinese and pre-medicine. When I am not studying, I enjoy spending time with family, volunteering, traveling, baking, and being active. I love sharing with others the knowledge and advice I have received in my education.
I am currently studying Mechanical Engineering and Japanese at Carnegie Mellon University. I enjoy tutoring because I love sharing knowledge with others, especially in one-on-one sessions, or with a small group. Teaching others is a great way to expand understanding of how other students think and develop ideas, and it allows myself to see new ways to look at problems. While I'm not studying (or helping my friends study), I love to play music (piano, flute, guitar), take a walk through the forest preserve, draw, design/sew clothing, chat with friends, etc. I look forward to contributing to students' learning endeavors!
I am a college professor with 10 years of teaching and tutoring experience; with the experience and patience to help you achieve your goals in any mathematical setting. Undergraduate, graduate, high school math courses and math sections of standardized tests are my specialty.
I am interested in tutoring a variety of subjects, science and biology specifically are my real passions. My scientific education has helped me grow immeasurably and I would love to help others have the same experience. I know first hand that formal education is not always the most effective way of learning. As a tutor, it is my place to step in when that traditional structure has failed, and I relish the opportunity.
I am a recent graduate of Washington University in St. Louis where I received my BSBA with majors in Organization and Strategic Management and Political Science. While at WashU, I worked at the Writing Center and helped peers with their essays and applications. In addition to the Writing Center, I was also a Teaching Assistant for MicroEconomics and Intro to Political Science and worked closely with students in both roles to clarify class material. I have also helped high school seniors develop their common application and worked with a middle schooler to learn to become more comfortable with writing. I am someone who loves to explore different subject matters and then help others to gain a deeper understanding of it with me.
In 2021, I received my Bachelor of Science in Integrative Neuroscience from Fordham University with minors in Philosophy and Chemistry, and I am currently a medical student. In college, I tutored and TAed in General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Biochemistry. In addition to writing, basic math, and various chemistry courses, I am also available for ACT and MCAT tutoring. Preparing for standardized tests can be very overwhelming but it does not have to be. With my years of tutoring work and experience taking these exams myself, I can guide students through the preparation process so they enter the testing facility with confidence and leave with a score to be proud of.
I'm not tutoring or buried in my textbooks, you will either find me rock climbing at the Triangle Rock Club, playing Ultimate Frisbee, working on my car, or enjoying the great outdoors (beaches, mountains, forests--you name it, I love it). On rainy weekends I enjoy tinkering with computers and old electronics, playing Pokemon, or picking at my guitar.
I am an interdisciplinary educator with an Ed.M. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a B.A. from Dartmouth College. My background is primarily in integrated arts learning and museum education and I specialize in visual arts, history and art history, and object-based learning. In all subjects, I take a creative, inquiry-based and learner-centered approach, designing opportunities for each unique individual to meet their learning goals.
I am a recent graduate from a masters program in biostatistics at Columbia University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in biological sciences, with a focus in neurobiology at Northwestern University. In August, I will be starting a doctoral program in biostatistics at NYU. I was a teaching assistant at Columbia University in my department and also have tutored graduate students and undergraduates privately as well. My primary areas of tutoring are math and statistics coursework in addition to math sections on standardized tests such as the GRE and GMAT. I am very passionate about helping students feel more confident and excited about math. In my spare time, I enjoy running, playing piano, and spending time with friends and family.
I am a graduate of Wesleyan University, where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with High Honors. With eight years of experience working in education, I've tutored students in math, science, history, and English, as well as helped students prepare for standardized tests. I've guided adults towards passing the US Citizenship Exam and taught English in India, where I lived for six months. Whenever I work with a student I personalize the lessons to fit their particular learning style, since I know every student is unique and having the right fit can make all the difference in making learning fun and effective. My strengths are tutoring the social sciences and humanities, as well as making math and standardized tests approachable to students that normally don't like those subjects. In my spare time I like traveling, spending time in the outdoors (climbing & backpacking), meditation, and playing soccer. Next fall I will be beginning my PhD in Education at Harvard University.
I am proud to be a part of Varsity Tutors! I am originally from San Antonio, TX; I completed my undergraduate education at Rice University in Houston where I received a bachelor's degree in Biochemistry and Cell Biology. Currently, I am in my second year of medical school at Baylor College of Medicine.

With an average student-teacher ratio of 12.1:1 in Oak Park schools, individual students sometimes need extra attention that classroom instruction alone can't provide. Personalized 1-on-1 tutoring fills that gap by giving your student dedicated time to work through challenging concepts, ask questions without hesitation, and progress at their own pace—something that's difficult in a traditional classroom setting.
During the first session, the tutor will assess your student's current understanding of the subject, identify specific areas where they're struggling, and learn about their learning style and goals. This foundation allows the tutor to create a personalized plan that addresses your student's unique needs and builds confidence from day one.
Tutors connected through Varsity Tutors are familiar with Illinois academic standards and can help students master the skills and content knowledge required at each grade level. Whether your student needs support with Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) preparation or mastering grade-level standards in math and English language arts, personalized instruction targets exactly what your student needs to succeed.
