Statistics Tutoring review by Andrew in North Chicago, IL
The student is a very bright and motivated student who understands the interaction between a student and a tutor. His mother is also very genuine in her desire to help her son excel in math and English. He is enrolled in Finite Math in college, which is fundamentally Linear Algebra. He is also enrolled in English 1A and a Biology course. During this first session, we spent about 45 minutes on Linear Algebra, and 30 minutes on English, and 15 minutes on confidence mentoring. Within Linear Algebra, we went over how to perform RREFs (row reduced echelon form) on matrices with 3 or more variables and 3 or more equations. We used textbook examples as well as worksheet examples supplied by him from his professor. We also went over how to translate word problems into equations, to solve for unknowns in supply and demand and revenue problems. With English, I gave him fundamental "mantras" to write a successful essay, including understanding the prompt and asking any questions to the professor about the prompt to ensure he is answering the prompt directly in his essays. We went over the different types of essays most college courses cover, including comparative, analytical, or informative essays. We went over thesis statements and introductory paragraphs. Once we have a prompt to work with, we will go over the body paragraphs and conclusions. The student wants to be premed in college, and I told him to always keep his head up high and not let competition ruin his experience and his goals. I told him he will face difficult times every day from now on if he is to continue as a premed, but that is what makes the destination all the better. I really look forward to tutoring him 3 times a week, and I sincerely hope he will get a lot out of the sessions.

Statistics Tutoring review by Kyle in North Chicago, IL
I hadn't worked with The student since a single session in October, so it was a fun treat for me. We covered the review for an entire chapter dealing exclusively with trigonometry, including conversion from radian to degree (and vice versa) as well as some proofs of identities. She was the same good sport I remembered from October, though, so in the end I'm hopeful that the correct explanations I (eventually) provided resonated with her.

I covered with the student a pre-test review questionnaire including geometry, trigonometry, statistics, and algebra. I also left the student notes and formulas on the concepts covered for her to study.
