I am an engineer with a graduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where I have taught math and science courses for 1.5 years. I also have several years of private tutoring experience, teaching various levels of math and science from elementary school through college. Teaching is my passion, not only because I enjoy doing it, but also since I see how it makes a real difference in my students' lives.I always attempt to explain difficult concepts in simple language, with real-world examples that my students can relate to. My tutoring sessions start with a discussion of the important terms and concepts, in which the student takes an active part. Subsequently, we will be working through some problems together, as I believe that problem-solving is the best way to learn new material. So be prepared for my hands-on approach! By the way, from my past experience, I know where students often experience difficulties, so will be spending some time on turning these weaknesses into strengths.Outside of work, I enjoy exploring new places and travel abroad every year. My hobbies include chess, soccer, hiking, and martial arts.

I have been cultivating expertise in teaching since my high school education. My experience has included both formal teaching duties and informal conveyance of my knowledge and experience to my peers and juniors. The first time I had a notable teaching experience was when I taught the International Physics Olympiads Prep Team at a private high school for four semesters, during my junior and senior college education. I successfully designed a study curriculum, led a team of tutors in Physics, Math and Computational Science Olympiads and taught many gifted students. The year I moved to the States for my post-graduate career, I was happy to hear news of two of my students receiving medals in the National Olympiad. In the U.S., I designed and taught Precalculus, AP Calculus and SAT Math Prep courses in a private high school in New Jersey. Many of my students got scholarships from major U.S. universities. One of themeven got a perfect score in SAT Math the following year and enrolled in Duke University.Until I recently received my Ph.D., I continued to be involved in teaching activities as lecturing and tutoring college students for more than five years. I taught and lectured many different laboratory courses and lecture sessions such as Physics I: Mechanics, Physics II: Electricity and Magnetism, Mechanics Laboratory, Electricity and Magnetism Laboratory, Optics Laboratory, Modern Physics Laboratory and Quantum Physics. As of now, I have been teaching, formally and informally, for more than 13 years. Throughout my teaching life, I received outstanding evaluations from my students, in oral and written form. I believe my achievement as a teacher is a consequence of my enthusiasm about teaching and my teaching philosophy; that is to care for and respect the students and the topic to be taught.

Do you struggle to understand your math or physics homework? So did I - math is hard! I always struggled with math all the way through earning my physics degree from Butler University, so I particularly enjoy helping students break down the mathematical barriers in the way of what they want to achieve. I am particularly skilled in explaining why math works and how it might connect If you struggle with math and are frustrated - trust me I HAVE BEEN THERE! I was a high school math and physics teacher for 9 years, so I have a wealth of experience helping struggling students learn a variety of subjects. I taught classes like Algebra Support, Algebra 1, Integrated Chemistry-Physics, AP Physics and everything in between. In addition to a physics degree, I also majored in Middle/Secondary Education, so I have experience working with STEM students in grades 5- 12. My philosophy is to meet students where they are with the content and help them understand how to tackle difficult concepts and break down misconceptions. I do this with a warm, inviting, and understanding approach, so students don't "feel dumb", but instead feel proud of the hard work we do together. I enjoy tutoring physics (at all high school levels including AP Physics ) and algebra. I enjoy Physics and Algebra because Physics explains the world around us, and Algebra is the language we use to describe Physics.Outside of education and tutoring, I like to spend as much time being active as possible. I love riding my bike, climbing, hiking, camping, and generally having adventures whenever I can! I am part of the LGBTQ community, love creating a safe environment in the classroom, through online tutoring, and everywhere I go. I also love spending time watching trashy TV with my two cats, Bradley and Opie, and my wife.

I am a graduate from the University of Rochester where I spent 4 year obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Cell and Developmental Biology. During that time, I also minored in Psychology as a Social Science. I then completed a fifth year through a "Take Five" program in which students propose and complete a self-created sixteen-credit course itinerary to study for academic enrichment. Currently, I am studying to become a paralegal.I have experience in teaching during both high school and college. During high school, I participated in a Peer Tutor program, during which I tutored students individually as well as in groups through a "Think Tank" after school program. In college, I was a Teaching Assistant for an upper level biology course along with five other undergraduates. Following that, I worked in partnership with a professor to teach Biology 101, an introductory Biology class for non-science majors. I created a large portion of the course work, lesson plans, and testing material. I also completed two course of Independent Research under the direction of a Biology professor in his lab which studied the reproduction of Drosophila melanogaster.I'm most passionate about teaching Mathematics and Biology. However, I am able to tutor a wide variety of subjects and I'm open to tutoring students of any age. My teaching philosophy is to equip students with the intellectual tools and skills that they need to tackle academic challenges, first with my guidance and then eventually, independently. As a first generation college student, I was largely left to my own devices to develop effective methods of studying and learning to be successful in my coursework. I find it immensely rewarding to pass along this knowledge in order to help others succeed.Outside of academia, my passions are my husband and children, reading, politics, knitting, and hiking.

I am currently studying Computer Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I have had experience tutoring students of all ages through programs at my school and the local library. I also teach private percussion lessons to help students prepare for auditions and concerts. While I tutor many subjects, I especially enjoy helping students with math, physics, computer science, and music. In my free time, I enjoy playing percussion (much to my neighbors dismay) and tinkering with robotics. I also enjoyed scouting as a kid and still love hiking and exploring the outdoors.

I am a graduate of Duke University. I received my Bachelor of Science in Economics with a concentration on Finance. I am passionate about helping students with Math and Science subjects, and I would love to help students on the Math section of the SAT as well as the SAT II Math subject tests. I don't like to think of learning as a boring experience where one just memorizes facts but rather a fun discovery of new ideas and concepts.
