I have an MBA, BS in political science and an AA in voice/music. I have a very diverse background in education both as an administrator and as a teacher...I consider myself to be a "Jack of all Trades".I have 8 years experience as a college professor teaching, business, life skills, academic success, ESOL, citizenship (government/US history), vocabulary, customer service and tutoring. I believe in teaching the individual. To me, this means learning who the student is both inside and outside of the learning environment. Everyone learns differently, but people learn more quickly when the information is presented in a manner that is relevant to their lives. Learning a student's interests allows me to customize a specific curriculum to meet their individual needs.I have also tutored and taught, both honors as well as the exceptional student populations, in elementary, middle and high school subject matters. Across the board, the key to a student's success is finding their strengths, building their confidence and connecting inferences between old and new subject matters. I believe these techniques give each student the opportunity to succeed.On a personal note I was born in Pennsylvania, but moved to Florida after graduating high school. I just moved to Washington state a few weeks ago and I am enjoying the mountains and the cooler weather. I can't wait to see snow again! I love to travel, I enjoy outdoor activities, and love my friends!

I grew up in a family of teachers and always knew I wanted to be one. I attended Georgian Court University as an English/Education major for my undergraduate degree, and also obtained as Master's Degree from there in Administration and Supervision. I enjoyed a career of thirty years as a middle school Language Arts teacher, a high school English teacher, and an interim Vice Principal in a k-5 elementary school.Helping students get better at reading comprehension and writing cohesive paragraphs as well as subject specific essays is my passion. I also enjoy providing assistance for basic math, science, and social studies activities. I will be happy to share all of my study skill advice to make all of your subjects and time management easier.I use a traditional approach to get to know your individual strengths to help you improve. I take great pride in helping you become a life-long reader and writer, so you can succeed in all subject areas.Outside of my teaching career, I am committed to staying dedicated to an exercise routine and have been a spinning instructor at several gyms over the years. I am also a former marathon runner. I really like lifting weights and occasionally I practice yoga. Cooking healthy meals also helps me in every area of my life.In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family and of course my puppy.

I'm an undergrad student at NYU, studying Biology and Global Public Health on the pre-med track. I have mostly taught elementary and middle school children, but I'm looking to move up soon. Having said that, I did well on the SAT and the fact that I studied for it quite recently myself makes me confident teaching it to high school students. In my free time-- I love reading, cooking, playing soccer, kickboxing, singing (in the shower!) and hanging out with my friends (and their pets). Lastly, I feel that good teachers, both in and out of school, have been instrumental in my education and progress as an individual. It makes me so glad to be able to provide the same for other students. I can't wait to get to know all of you and help you reach your goals!

I believe that life is precious and far too short for many of us, so I choose to live by the motto, "Work hard, and play harder." While I don't believe that you have to work hard in order to enjoy life, I choose to work hard so that I can enjoy all this life has in store for me. I find most of my joy in this life come from helping others. I have tutored in the areas of English and Essay Writing for the past ten years. While pursuing my Master's degree in English from Auburn University Montgomery, I taught English Composition and worked as a tutor in the Student Learning Center. I worked with traditional and non-traditional students in subject areas such as Basic College Writing, Introduction to Composition and Introduction to American Literature. While pursuing my Ph.D. in English from The University of Georgia, I taught courses in English Composition and American Literature and worked as a Writing tutor in the University Writing Center. As a Writing tutor, I worked with undergraduate and graduate students from all disciplines, tutoring in such areas as grammar and mechanics, organization, thesis development, APA and MLA formatting. In this capacity I have worked with students in all grade levels, as well as professionals, in the areas of English and Essay Writing. As a tutor, I strive to maintain a student-centered tutoring environment, in which I focus on higher order concerns and help students develop a level of comfort in identifying and correcting errors in their writing.

Eastern University can be accredited for showing me the wonders in teaching. After receiving my Master of Education degree I started teaching in an urban city's public school system. I currently teach fifth grade where the students excite me with their wit and enthusiasm. I look forward to working with students because I learn just as much them as they do from me. That's my philosophy of education: students and educators coexist as learning partners. The learning is reciprocated on both ends. Students are given the necessary tools to make inquiries and then apply different learning methods to give solutions to their own inquiries.

I am a senior at Utah Valley University working towards receiving my bachelors degree in Elementary Education. I have a passion for learning and try to spread my enthusiasm to my students. I believe a positive attitude is one of the strongest forces in the world and use that to help students succeed. I have always wanted to be a teacher and have done many things to help me get those teaching opportunities. I taught a Preschool class my senior year of high school. I have also been working in a kindergarten class for two years. Through opportunities provided by the coursework at UVU, I have been able to teach a few lessons for every elementary grade (K-6). I have also taught piano lessons for the past six years. My favorite subjects to tutor are Math and English (with an emphasis on phonics). Math has always been my favorite subject and it is the one I have excelled in. I have recently found a passion for phonics and see it as a very important skill for people to learn.

I hold a certification in Grades First through Eighth, Elementary Education and Fifth through Ninth Grades Social Studies, Math, and Communication Arts. I most enjoy teaching math and have taught Middle School math for the last five years.I have also tutored Math through my district for the last five years. I use a variety of techniques and games to reach my students. I have also taught summer school through pre algebra and many of the kids need extra help in Math and reading.
