I am a postdoctoral scholar completing research training in a Cell Biology research lab. I have taught at every educational level from K-12 through undergraduate. Most of my teaching experience has been Biology based courses for undergraduates (Major and Non-Major). I have also been a tutor for college athletes. I enjoy the experience of working with students with diverse academic abilities.I spend most of my free time performing motherly duties. I also enjoy reading, exercising, and traveling. There's nothing that makes me happier than that 'aha!' moment - when my student understands something he/she would not have without my help.When my sisters and I came home from our school in the Bronx we had to complete 'Mom's homework' after our own schoolwork as a matter of course. 'Mom's homework' was our way into the best private schools in the northeast. My own children - my autistic son and my intellectually gifted daughter - did 'Mom's homework' as well, which enabled them to reach their own intellectual bests.I believe that children have exactly one chance at a good education track. A good tutor can hone skills that might not have been properly nurtured in the usual academic setting.I've been teaching and tutoring in many different situations and I've developed some unique teaching tools that will engage your child and help him/her sharpen the English skills necessary for test taking or general writing.

Studying foreign languages and World History offers the tools to communicate, understand, and work with foreign peoples to solve problemsI received my B.A. In History and a B.A. in European Languages from the University of Rochester in 2020. I also received my M.A. in History from the University of Rochester in 2021. In addition to reading Latin, I speak Chinese, French, and Italian, the latter I have studied from grade school through college. I studied in abroad in Italy and in France, and spent an additional summer working in Italy, so I know how to use Italian skills in a real situations.My approach to these subjects is unique because I strive for knowledge and practical capability. Fluency in a language or expertise in a field of history is not about scoring a certain number on a test or memorizing a precise number of facts and words; it is the ability to use what you know to think critically and creatively to solve problems. From this approach, I identify what each individual student needs to succeed and help them develop the skills to become self-reliant and solve the problems he/she will face, whether it is performing better in school, preparing for a big test, or travelling to Italy. I take a foundational perspective on languages and history to arrive at a deeper meaning of both. My knowledge of Latin helps me to identify the context and origin of words, while my general knowledge of all parts of the world helps me understand events in their proper context.

My name is Ingrid, I am currently a student at the University of Illinois in Chicago. I'm currently a sophomore at the University and a Neuroscience major on the Pre-med track. I currently volunteer at the UIC hospital and would be glad to talk to anyone who is hoping to start volunteering as well. I am very excited to be a tutor because there is nothing I love more than getting to know students and learning together and in the end watching them succeed. I am studying Industrial Systems Engineering as a rising sophomore at The Ohio State University. I have previously taught students who were struggling with math and english in my community and also taught kids about global cultures and societal issues at a summer camp for three years. These experiences have made me grow as a teacher and have taught me that there is nothing more important than hard work and curiosity. If any student possesses both of these qualities, learning becomes an opportunity, not a task. My style of teaching is one that involves a sense of humor and relatability. I have noticed that students respond most to a hands-on, visual, and fun environment. I try to incorporate these three components in the subjects I love teaching most - math and english! In my free time, I love to paint, dance, and write.

I have always had a passion for helping others learn as I know from personal experience how much of an impact good teachers can have on students. I am an alumnus of Washington University in St. Louis, holding a double-major in French and International Studies, with a minor in the Humanities. I am fluent in English, Spanish and French. I have four years of experience tutoring/teaching in foreign languages. I spent the Fall Semester of 2010 living and studying in Toulouse, France. During my semester abroad, I worked as an English tutor for two French girls.I like to focus my knowledge of romance languages on creating a personalized teaching style for each and every student I tutor. I start off each session by assessing what the student has been learning in the classroom. After that initial assessment, I work with the student to improve the areas where most help is needed. As sessions progress, I like to bring pre-prepared exercise worksheets specifically on the skills the student is perfecting.

Since graduation, I have tutored many students in Chemistry and computer science as a hobby and to encourage students to show case strengths in Chemistry and Computer Science.
