I am a graduate of Brown University with a Bachelors Degree in Biology and Yale University with a Masters in Public Health. I also hold a Level 5 certification in TEFL. I am passionate about working with children and students of all ages to assist them in achieving their highest potential. My favorite subjects to teach are phonics, reading, science and math. My approach is to meet the students where they are at in their studies and make their learning experience fun, interactive, engaging and exciting. I am a driven, positive, affirming tutor who is happy to help students in any way he can. I graduated magna cum laude from Dartmouth College in 2020, and I obtained my Master's in Political Science from the University of Toronto in 2022.

I am a student at Vanderbilt University, majoring in Neuroscience while on the pre-med track. In the future, I hope to become a pediatrician. I have experience with and tutor in a wide range of subjects, and am most passionate about helping students with standardized exams. I know from personal experience that any exam score can be improved with studying and practice, no matter how frustrating or impossible it may seem. As a tutor, my goal is to listen to and address my students' needs as thoroughly as possible. Outside of academics, I love to fold origami, watch Criminal Minds, and hang out with my dog.

I'm passionate about teaching. For over 30 years I've taught attorneys, paralegals and lenders, adults at a local technical school, and middle school students in a local school district. I've also been a speaker at state and national seminars and I have co-authored 2 instruction manuals on various aspects of real estate. I've never met a microphone I didn't like! My 33 years in real estate include title insurance and mortgage experience, and I've been a licensed Michigan Realtor since 2012.

I am currently a sophomore at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, majoring in Human Development with a minor in Education. I tutor a variety of subjects, I am the most passionate about English. I have previously tutored high school English, focusing on thesis development, grammatical skills, and creative writing. My experience creating weekly curriculums for students in preschool through 12th grade as an activity facilitator for Chautauqua Institution allowed me to refine many of my teaching skills. I was especially enthusiastic about my lessons on poetry and nature literature. Although my interest in teaching began in high school, my Education minor has given me more hands-on experience working with students. The minor has also introduced me to new teaching methods, as I have been able to dissect education theory and policy. In my free time, I read a lot of non-fiction, draw, and watch the West Wing. I am a lifelong learner. I have a BA in Religion (Buddhism) from Carleton College and a MA in Languages and Cultures of Asia from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I have traveled to France, the Netherlands, Denmark, Japan, and China. I've lived in a suburb of Paris, a small farming island of Japan, and also in Lhasa in the Tibetan region for one summer. I taught communications/writing and comparative religion at UW-Madison. Recently, I taught pre-K at a Reggio Emilia inspired school, where learning is child directed. Currently, I wake up very early to teach English as a foreign language to students in China. I love to see the strengths and potential in all people. I believe educators have the responsibility to support equity in education and I consider myself an ally to BIPOC, AAPI, Latinx, LGBTQIA+, neurodivergent, and other groups. I enjoy reading, writing, photography, gardening (especially with native plants), hiking, gaming, and spending time with my family. I look forward to meeting you!

Creating a joyful community of reading and writing - whether for an entire school, or for a small group - has provided me with my greatest sense of accomplishment (and my fondest memories!) Literacy is the KEY to unlocking future success in all subjects, and in all endeavors, and I've long been proud of the growth my students have consistently demonstrated over the years. Just this past year, the small-group pod I was leading showed TWO years of growth in reading levels - thriving, in fact, while far too many others in their in-person cohort fell behind. I graduated high school in 2020 and then took a gap year, during which time I completed several internships but truly found my passion as an intern at my local legal aid organization. After college, I plan to pursue a law degree and eventually become a lawyer or judge.
