When it comes to education and pedagogy, I follow the philosophical traditions of Plato and Aristotle. While acquiring my Master's Degree in Philosophy from Texas State, I learned and thought a lot about pedagogy and the best way to communicate and interact with students. My unique education background allows me to take a different perspective in teaching kids, and this is often what is needed.Throughout my higher learning I have both struggled and been successful. I'm a freshman here at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. I graduated from Wayzata High, and I'm currently pursuing a Bachelor's of Science in neuroscience. At the University, I'm usually in class, studying, hanging out with my friends, or at club meetings! In my free time, I love to breakdance, write poetry, debate politics and economics, and participate in practically every nerdy endeavor possible (huge Star Wars fan!!). I love to talk and will talk your ear off if you let me! I love trying new things, exploring the city, and traveling. My teaching philosophy is that teaching is a responsibility and a privilege; I'll put 110% into teaching if you put the same effort into learning. With hard work and patience, anything is possible!

I was a Teaching Assistant at the Gabelli School of Business at Fordham University working as an editor and TA for English essay grading, from 2013 to 2014. I was a tutor at the Rosedale Achievement Center for Girls during the spring of 2012. I taught health classes to freshman at Bronx public high schools from 2010-2011. I was an assistant violin teacher at the Mind Builders Creative Academy from 2011 to 2014.I am a great tutor because I help students break down complicated and difficult assignments into manageable tasks and goals. I am committed to helping students fully comprehend and understand the information they need to learn. This is because I believe students perform best in school when they understand concepts instead of using memorization, which does not provide a stable foundation for more complex work in the future. I love working with young people and helping them to link their coursework to their own personal development and the world they live in.

I've learned that success has much more to do with discipline and focus than it does god-given talent. Writing is a process with its own rules-rules that all students can learn with patience. I currently work as an Assistant Principal at an elementary school, but my teaching experience is in grades 7-12 teaching English, Writing, and Social Studies. I have also worked as a literacy coach in a K-8 school.Writing is my passion. As a student at the University of Pittsburgh, I majored in English Writing and Political Science. I worked as a column writer and editor at the student newspaper, and attended several writing workshops. My writing samples have been both published and entered in contests, and I love helping students find the joy and reward in their writing. For over a decade, I have helped students perfect their craft and become strong, succinct writers. I have read and edited class-assigned and college admission essays.I am a Level 2 Google Certified Educator.In my spare time, I enjoy settling into a really great novel.

Most recently I have been working as an educator as Discovery World in Milwaukee where I teach children in grades 2 through 12 in a lab setting about a variety of scientific topics and as an adjunct professor of Microbiology at WCTC. Over the course of my undergraduate career I tutored students in individual and group sessions. As a graduate student I mentored and trained younger students in the lab. After performing slightly above average on the ACT my first attempt, I found a tutor who helped me reach my full potential and absolutely rock the test. Since then, I have not been intimidated by any exam in University or beyond, including the LSAT.I know I can instill this same confidence in other students by slowly highlighting insight into testing methodologies. By the end of our prep, your student will be able to use the strategies on any academic study in his or her future.
